Re: Going to the bathroom
Hi, I experienced this about a year to a year and a half ago. It slowly got worse and worse, to the point where I was driving my wife crazy, as I was getting up to empty my bladder every 90 to 120 minutes ALL night. I had moved from one town to the next, and the WATER was different. In addition to t...

Re: Opinions about self treating sleep apnea please.
For all the years they spend in school, doctors are not miracle workers, and they do not have instant answers for everything. They often have to look up in books to find out what to do about you, if you're a case that isn't "everyday". That being said, they have great access to an astounding lot of ...

Re: Alchohol and Sleep
Many years ago, I read a study on sleep and the effects of stress, alcohol, food, etc, on sleep. It was a tour de force on why using alcohol to get to sleep is self defeating. While physical observations showed more sleep, the brain patters demonstrated that until the alcohol was metabolized from th...

Re: Doctors Lying
Many members posting comments on economics are working merely off of "how things should be" or "how things would be in a utopia" or "how things will be if the right laws are passed". They entirely overlook the realities of human behavior and scarce resources and even do little reflection on their o...

Re: Doctors Lying
I don't think so. A large part of our problem is the disconnect between the decision making and the payment making. Ie., if I am paying out of pocket I will have a great incentive to check carefully that I need the procedure. So I will be motivated to get educated about my health decisions, and mak...

Re: Doctors Lying
HCA, the largest for-profit hospital chain in the country, is confronting evidence of unnecessary cardiac treatments at some of its medical centers in Florida after a nurse’s complaint prompted an internal investigation. An unregulated, unfettered, free market will bring Americans the best health c...

I very strongly reccommend propane, rather than diesel or gas. Propane does not degrade over time, get contaminated, or anything else. Further, it burns clean, and you can rent a large enough tank to keep you powered up for a week, if need be. If you buy it smartly, it costs less than gas or diesel ...

Re: How many Resmed S9's DON'T have the bird sound ?
I have one other thought. When I started, I used the ramp feature, and I noticed that at lower pressures, using the EPR (or whatever it's called) the motor did large swings in rpm with my breathing. Perhaps it's related to lower pressures? I changed mine to the largest relief, and noticed quite a bi...

From the time you started, to noticing life improvements
For the first couple months, other than some decrease in sleepiness while driving, I really didn't notice a thing. For me, it was more like 4 months before I noticed signficant changes to attitude, energy level, etc. And those are not dramatic, just better. I can drive now, for several hours without...

Re: Sour smell when starting
I haven't had the smell in months, and no, I never did locate the source.
I have noticed that replacement masks sometimes smell disagreeable for a week or so, but I only notice it for the first 5 min or so.

Re: How many Resmed S9's DON'T have the bird sound ?
Hi everyone. I've been reading, with great interest, the many Posts by people who have reported a Bird Like/Whoooo/Coooo sound coming from thier Resmed S9 machines. The sound occurs at the end of the exhale. It has been reported to often times come and go, and sometimes disappear completely.... or ...

Re: How can I keep my mouth closed?
I've had intermittent trouble with that, and for the reasons mentioned I absolutely will not tape my mouth shut, nor use a chin strap. No way do I want to wake up unable to open my mouth to breath, should something go wrong. So, after much angst, and waking up a lot of times with a terribly dry mout...

Looking for a comparison of all machines
Both current production and recent past. Actually, what I have in mind is that I need a travel machine. My current machine is listed below, but its shape and bulk make it inconvenient. I also am thinking about the idea of camping and am concerned with power consumption. Since this is on my dime, I'm...

Mark You have answered your own question by asking in your other thread......re: stuffed up nose. If your nose is stuffed you can't breath through it so you are opening your mouth to get air. I would suggest you have summer allergies or as you said in your other thread ....there is alot of dust aro...

Re: Swollen sinuses, plugged nose... Any suggestions?
I had to look that up. It sounds far worse as it concerns discomfort than the condition... Try it it works and its not as bad as you think......have you ever coughed or choked when drinking and the water or drink came out your nose? Didn't hurt did it...... Same reaction. Oh, yes it did! Hurts like...
