Re: 2nd Sleep Study Coming Up!
Thanks for the help. I just got a call from the sleep lab, expecting to be scheduled in the next few weeks. They said they had an opening tonight! Also found out that my dr. requested a baseline study -NO CPAP! Thank goodness it's a Friday night and I don't have much planned for tomorrow, since I wi...

2nd Sleep Study Coming Up!
My sleep dr. agreed that I need another sleep study to figure out why I wake up during the night. I haven't had a sleep study since my initial two, 4 1/2 years ago. I'm excited to see what this sleep study shows. Since I only get one shot at this, I want to make sure all the issues are addressed tha...

Re: First Post with Questions
I saw an ENT yesterday for the first time, mainly b/c I've been having breathing issues and am looking for anything that might help me figure out why I have such fragmented sleep every night. The dr.'s office requested that I bring in my sleep study. Although my sleep study showed that I had an AHI ...

Re: How Do You Know if You Need BiPap?
That's interesting about the RDI index. I'll have to see if it was done when I did my sleep study. Haven't heard of it before. My doctor is not willing to order me another sleep study b/c my AHI numbers are so good. I regularly wake up after having slept four hours, regardless how tired I was when I...

Re: How Do You Know if You Need BiPap?
Thanks, everyone! Pugsy, I read your link. Very informative. I'll need to read it again when I've had more than two hours of sleep (rough night last night - don't know why). Per your suggestion, and that of others, I've been trying different setting changes over the past several months. I reset the ...

How Do You Know if You Need BiPap?
In my quest to find that elusive night of wonderful, rested sleep after over four years of CPAP, I'm wondering if I'm using the right machine - S9 Autoset. My dr. has never suggested it, but I'm curious about BiPap. Is it only for people who need high pressure settings b/c of high AHI numbers? Could...

Re: Best solutions for keeping mouth shut while sleeping?
My dr. told me not to sleep in a fetal position (my favorite), as that closes up the airway passage. Sleep with your head back, well, not thrown back, but not curled down like a baby. She said that you are more likely to open your mouth to breathe in the fetal position b/c of the constricted airway.

Re: Best solutions for reducing aerophagia?
I, too, have been struggling with aerophagia for a few years. About a year ago, I went to a nasal mask, thoroughly fed up with the FFM that was a source of constant leaks for me. Guess my face structure just wasn't right for the two different models I tried. However, when I discovered the wonderful ...

Re: Need Some Suggestions, Please!
Thanks, did try Ambien and a couple of others, but not much success. I'd really like to try and find the source of the interruptions, so I'm working on that angle. Looking at anything and everything.

Re: Need Some Suggestions, Please!
Dietary changes have been a huge factor for me. A few years ago, I eliminated preservatives, soy, wheat, rice, dairy, gluten and anything I cannot read from my diet. It made an immediate difference, but I still wanted to completely eliminate the migraines. Just three weeks ago, I finally eliminated ...

Re: Need Some Suggestions, Please!
I like the idea of videotaping my sleep, as opposed to sprinkling powder at the foot of my bed I saw my sleep dr. yesterday and she said that I could try another 45mg. supplement of iron in an effort to get the ferritin level up higher from 48. Previously, it was at 32 before I started the first iro...

Re: Cleaning a heated (DO NOT SUBMERSE!) tube.
I take my CPAP parts into the shower with me, including the heated hose, and clean with some fragrance-free, dye-free, etc. dish soap. So easy! If the hose still has water in it when I'm ready to go to bed, I turn on the S9, minus the data card and water in the reservoir, straighten out the hose on ...

Re: I learned today I have deviated septum.
How did any of you learn that you were better off with a FFM? Was it just trial and error, which is a lot of $$$? I have never been asked by a dr. or DME if I have a deviated septum (I do), and that seems like a pretty big consideration, as I am learning from reading this thread.

Praying for him and those others affected. Can't imagine having a baby or young children and not being able to feed them. Hopefully, help is reaching these people now.

Re: How much water does your humidifier use?
I welcome all suggestions! After all, if I don't need some suggestions now, I'm sure I'll need them later. Oftentimes, I feel that CPAP therapy is like going down a bunch of rabbit trails. It always seems like its one thing or the other; i.e. humidity issues, mask issues, hose issues, pressure issue...
