Re: Airport x ray machine & cpap

A word or two, from comments by frequent travelers in my sleep apnea support group. 1] If TSA insists on examining your device, be sure that you demand that the inspector put on fresh gloves! Who knows what/where their last look-see was? 2] And, insist that you put the device back into its carrier b...

Re: lincare vs apria

cdmeowme: Slinky's answer overrode mine, so I'll try again. Neither company - indeed, none of the "biggies" - provide personal service anymore. Each will have better offices scattered about. As Slinky suggests, visit each local office if at all possible to get a feel as to how responsive they'll be ...

Happy data readout

I was going to post this in the Data Download thread, but they were all being so technical there!

I just had to report, with glee, that my sleep doctor read my smart card this morning.

AHI only 0.7! Pleased! Average nightly use over almost 60 days was 6:30. Doc pleased; me too!

Re: A new member but a 6-year patient

I send huge thanks to all. My meeting went quite well, to my great relief. I read remarks posted earlier by JohnBFisher, GumbyCT and IndyDave. Members were intrigued and definitely interested in these guys' insight! Grand-PAP made a personal appearance at the meeting, which encouraged me no end. I e...

Re: Newbie: How do you know if DME is good

It may be too late to really cover your concerns, but others may benefit. Criteria established by our support group are essentially: 1] DME must be local, but with national affiliations 2] DME must offer truly personal service, to include a] monthly calls to see how you're doing b] personal, at home...

Re: A new member but a 6-year patient

Wow! I am indebted to 'pugsy,' 'slinky,' 'JohnBFisher,' and 'CumbyCT,' among others for your prompt and thorough input! I have to be a tad careful here, as I may, inadvertently, become more knowledgeable and therefore more eligible to be my support group's "manipulator!" Not necessarily all that bad...

Re: A new member but a 6-year patient

chunkyfrog: Thanks for a prompt acknowledgement of my post! The group was sponsored, originally, by a small DME. His firm lost out on Medicare's ill-advised bidding process and he very nearly went out of business altogether. He still attends most every meeting and is very respected, especially since...

A new member but a 6-year patient

Hello guys. I've used a CPAP for just over six years. I'm a regular member at my local sleep apnea support group here in The Villages, Florida. Since our 'facilitator' will be away for our next meeting in mid-May, I've been 'chosen' (read: railroaded) to lead the open discussion. So, I'm brushing up...
