Re: Get Equipment from DME or Online

Unfortunately my insurance for equipment is part of my 1500 deductible. You didn't mention whether or not you got a sleep study recently. If you got one this year then perhaps it made a big dent in your deductible? Either way keep in mind that insurance companies typically make you "rent-to-own" th...

Re: Introduction, Boyce

I had a split study. The upside is that you are treated quickly. The downside is that there is much more information in a full sleep study that you won't have access to. For example, I don't know my full AHI. After two hours my AHI was 59 and they split the study. But my apneas are much worse during...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC

I realize that he will not be able to reduce his total apnea to 0. I am concerned about these Obstructive apneas like the one I witnessed last night where he stops breathing for a long time and not until he wakes up does he start breathing again. OK. Just wanted to make sure you had realistic expec...

Re: New with two weeks on CPAC

...Our concern is the reaction of his heart to even one event. If the CPAP is not going to work I guess we need to know that before we see the doctor. I'm no expert, but I feel confident in saying that if you're expecting CPAP to consistently eliminate all obstructive events, then no, it is not goi...

Re: CPAP has stopped my Apneas.. I cant sleep with a Quattro Fx

Since you have allergies anyway, perhaps a benadryl or two at night might help? At least for a few nights until you are more used to the mask.

Re: enough air coming in

I feel a lot of air coming out of the vent. So why don't I feel a lot of air in the mask? I really can't say. When it happened to me, I was also a bit confused. Looking back on it, I wonder if it was so much easier to breathe with APAP that my brain had to adjust and learn that it did not need to s...

Re: enough air coming in

During the first few weeks I used APAP, I often felt like I was not getting enough air, even with ramp and EPR turned off and pressures from 11-15. One thing that always comforted me was putting my hand in front of the vent on my mask and feeling the strong current of air coming out. I knew there wa...

Re: What is the perfect humidification setting on s9?

G'day to you too! I use the s9 with the H5i humidifier as well. Sounds like you are using a manual setting for the humidifier. It goes to six I think so yours is at a moderate level. I love humidity too, however I've found that too much humidity is not a good thing. It can lead to water condensing i...

Re: How do you deal with dry mouth??

I think many people (like me) who use a FFM can't breathe well through their nose so keeping one's mouth closed is not an option for us. If adjusting the CPAP humidifier isn't enough then you might try using a hose cozy. It can help prevent condensation within the tube and thus leave more humidity i...

Re: If Resme S9 Autoset makes noise, what machine do you recomm

I use the s9 as well, and I find it to be very quiet. I always use the humidifier, I don't know if that makes any difference in the sound as it travels up to the mask.

Re: A new apnea patient's journey - starting with Provent

Congrats neurotony, on finding a therapy that seems to be helping. I wonder, have you thought about how to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment over the course of months or years? One nice thing about the data-capabile CPAP machine is that it does give you some detailed information about your ...

Re: Hate to make my first post a vent but...

Sounds like you are actively working on treating the OSA and that is good. We have a number of things in common. I'm similar age and build, and 2 years ago, like you, I had a sleep study that showed an AHI of 6.5. The Dr. said it was borderline normal and we agreed to look for other reasons for my s...

Re: How to deal with air leaks with "Quattro FX"?

I have been using this mask for about 7 months and like it. However, I find that the liner starts leaking on my nasal bridge after about 6 weeks of daily use. Could be that it stretches? Has anyone else had this experience. This is my 2nd QFX mask. I've found the mask liner breaks down quickly, mos...

Re: H5i water chamber too small.

You can lower the temperature a few degrees. The higher the temperature the more water it uses. Also make sure you aren't mouth breathing with a nasal mask. That will drain the chamber quickly.
