Re: Itches
Quattro gives me itches too. I had to use the Quattro this week because I lost the straps for my Hybrid. Never found a solution that helped much for the itching. Back to my hybrid tonight.

Any tips on alleviating nose tickling with FFM??
I've gone back to my Quattro mask because I temporarily can't find the straps for my Hybrid (lost on vacation). Surprisingly, the Quattro FFM is working well for me this time around- no leaks, and fairly comfortable. However, I'm experiencing nose itch/tickling when wearing the FFM. It's as if someo...

Re: CPAP- I've come a LONG ways in 2 months!!
No one told me how to sleep. But during my sleep study they had me sleep on my back. And when i first started wearing CPAP it seemed like the only position where i didn't get leaks. I adjusted to back sleeping after a month but then realized that this was probably the worst position for my apnea. By...

CPAP- I've come a LONG ways in 2 months!!
My first week of cpap was horrible. I was using an Opus nasal mask, and trying to learn to sleep on my back, while air was shooting straight out my mouth (despite chin strap). I was having to take Ambien 10mg and Benadryl just to sleep, and was waking up feeling awful. I was so discouraged. I'm supp...

Re: Introduction (My Eyes Have Baggage)
Without doing any research, I'm certain there are cosmetic procedures for bags under the eyes and dark circles. For bags, I believe they call it blepharoplasty or something similar to that. For dark circles, I believe I read that there are lazer treatments that are fairly effective. Please don't fee...

Re: Why would dentist be against CPAP?
A good dentist who is educated in the area of sleep apnea will not be opposed to CPAP. At the same time, I feel that a good dentist is more realistic as to the failure rates of CPAP. They see patients who complain about CPAP and admit to not wearing their hose nightly. They understand that complianc...

Taping mouth did not work. Back to the Hybrid.
The Hybrid mask has been working good for me- almost zero leaks and comfortable enough. However, I decided last night to go back to the nasal pillows. I wanted so much for these to work. They are so much less bulky than a FFM. I'm a full on mouth breather. I taped my mouth using the recommendations ...

nasal pillows causing a sore on nostril
I like my Hybrid mask. But the nasal pillows cause a small sore to form on the rim of my right nostril (never on the left). Its very small, but quite painful at night when wearing my mask. Other than adjusting the strap tension and the nasal pillow size, does anyone have any tips on preventing nostr...

Re: Would you use CPAP just to treat snoring?
Personal opinion- i would try an oral appliance first. These can be very effective in many cases. You are correct in that these appliances are expensive, and there is no guarantee that it would work. But if it does work, an oral appliance would be so much simpler that being connected to a hose the r...

Re: oral device?
You are correct, there are about 20 different oral appliances on the market with varying degrees of efficacy. Most densists will sell one particular product. However, there are some dentists that specialize in apnea and tmj issues that are familiar with many of the mouth pieces. They can help you se...

Re: Is Oral Dental Appliance Worth Considering?
I have a class II jaw recession. My dentist is a friend of mine. He told me today that it costs them $400 to have the Tap III device made and that they charge $800 for the entire process. I think i'm going to do it. We feel this is a logical step before even considering MMA surgery (that the oral su...

Is it ok to sleep on back with cpap??
I know that I've read that without cpap, sleeping on your back is the worst position because it causes the airway to close due to gravity. I was always a stomach sleeper, and it has been very difficult to overcome this position in order to use cpap. Now that i'm cpap, I find that sleeping on my back...

Re: After 3 months still trying to work things out
Leaks, pressure sores, mouth breather.....your story sounds very similar to mine. I'm now using the Hybrid mask. It seems to work well but I don't necessarily feel any better. Its encouraging to read that you began to feel more yourself after a couple months. I shall use this as encouragement.

Re: Chin Strap: Requesting Recommendations
There are so many appliance options. How did you decide on the Silent Night? Dr Shapira from the website explains that he usually initiates therapy with the TAP device, but that it depends on a person's mouth and needs.
