Re: How many Resmed S9's DON'T have the bird sound ?
I have had experience with 2 x S9 VPAP Adapt units and I can confirm both made the same noise. One was from my local supplier and had about 900 hours use on it while the other was a brand new unit I purchased with 0 hours on the clock. I have only noticed the noise on one occasion and after trying t...

Re: VPAP Adapt question
Just a guess but I think the Adapt essentially automatically figures out a backup rate of a certain number of breaths per minute based on data from the past 3 minutes of usage. I would assume that if the algorithm has detected that you have exceeded that number for the preceding 60 seconds then it w...

Re: CPAP Newbie - Great Start - 1 Month in Sleeping Problems
I know it sounds stupidly simple but do you clean the mask each night ? I know that I took this for granted at the start of my trials and then found the fact that my skin oils were left on the mask made it terrible for leaks (I use a full face mask too). Got up, cleaned it with some water, dried it ...

Re: S9 VPAP Auto vs S9 VPAP Adapt
what are your sleep doctors doing for you? most of the ones I saw did not know anything about the machine settings or even sleep apnea and they don't seem to know how to treat sleep apnea. my O2 just plummetted on my sleep studies and I didn't know why and the cpap machine just didn't work. I tried...

Re: S9 VPAP Auto vs S9 VPAP Adapt
John, Pugsy, Thank you both so much. Your comments are pretty much exactly what I needed to help me figure out what I need to do. I think that I will indeed return the VPAP Auto and go with the Adapt based on my new understanding of the data and to avoid the "What if" scenario. You two are both gold...

Re: S9 VPAP Auto vs S9 VPAP Adapt
Unfortunately, in order to get an ASV unit you would need a prescription for it. So, unless your doctor has prescribed it, you would need to go with the BiLevel unit only. And yes, it sometimes happens that the constant start/stop of obstructive apneas tends to cause the central apneas. Due to that...

Re: S9 VPAP Auto vs S9 VPAP Adapt
Thanks very muchly for the replies guys. I guess my biggest lingering question I have is why did my sleep study show 9 Central Apnoea's an hour ? Could these have been caused by the constant stop start condition of my obstructive apnoea's or is it just a case that these Centrals will be there even i...

Re: S9 VPAP Auto vs S9 VPAP Adapt
Hi Robysue, Thanks for the quick reply I have the printouts for the time that I used the unit but unfortunately it does not show this statistic (I'm not even sure if the S9 will record this as the ResMed site indicates that the Adapt does not record Central Apnoea events ). I am actually borrowing ...

Re: S9 VPAP Auto vs S9 VPAP Adapt
If you were tested in the U.S. then you would probably be prescribed a regular CPAP. But many of us are using an APAP such as the S9 Autoset which could be switched between CPAP and APAP modes. Those VPAP machines that you're talking about would be considered as subsequent machines if the person sh...

In addition, my APAP settings were Min:8cm Max:16cm with a 95th percentile of 10.5
The settings on ASV were EPAP: 6.0, Min PS: 6.0 and Max PS: 11.0

S9 VPAP Auto vs S9 VPAP Adapt
Hi Guys, I have been combing over this forum for a few weeks now and have only now decided to jump into the fray and start discussing Basically, My name is Chris and I am a 27 year old male who last year was (finally) diagnosed with Sleep Apnoea (or Apnea for the American readers). I went down the p...
