Re: A Night in Hospital with CPAP
I spent the night in hospital yesterday after having bilateral foot surgery. I learned that it is this hospital's policy to keep OSA patients in overnight for observation due to increased risk of apnea and oxygen desaturation. Fair enough. Like a good CPAP user, I brought my gear. I had done some re...

Re: Chin straps suggestions
For the last 4 months I have been using an inexpensive Velcro ear muff/wrap from the dollar store. It works great, and even though it is fleece, it is breathable and washable and adjustable. I have a more expensive model purchased form my provider, but the dollar store item works bet for me.

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
I can honestly say, after about a month on CPAP, I feel tremendously better. The first few weeks, I think I was making up for my sleep deficit of many, many years. Now, I feel clearer-headed, my memory is much improved, I feel the fog has lifted. I have literally changed my life. I started a wheat f...

Re: [OT] Should I stop eating Wheat ??
Another easy delicious meal or snack: Large white mushrooms (3 or 4 makes a meal), with the centers cored out. Put a tsp. of salsa in the middle of each, shredded mozzarella on top, microwave for 15 or 20 seconds until cheese melts. Then top with some Caesar, or Ranch dressing if desired. Low carb &...

Re: AHI increased using FF mask and never getting restfull sleep
Thank you RobySue for your detailed reply! I have done much better since implementing your suggestion re: parking my tongue at the top of my mouth. I still need a chinstrap, but have had NO air leaks from the mouth. I actually went back to the Swift FX Bella, which is so much more comfortable than t...

Re: [OT] Should I stop eating Wheat ??
I also read Wheat Belly, and was quite impressed with the science behind it. I have now been totally wheat-free for 5 weeks, I also went back on Atkins (which also works for me, and makes perfect sense physiologically). I feel 100% better. Most notably, my aches and pains ARE GONE. I mean GONE. I us...

Re: AHI increased using FF mask and never getting restfull sleep
I am a newbie (2nd week of CPAP), and I have experienced the same thing. I started with a trial of Swift effects nasal pillows (which I like the best) but found uncontrolled mouth leaks and cheek billowing (I call it the Dizzie Gillespie effect) kept waking me. I tried the massive black chin strap, ...
