Re: ICON Auto CPAP Machine with Built In Heated Humidifier and S
I use this machine with a full face mask. Let me know if you have any questions about it after your review on the F&P web site.

Re: ICON Users - Humidifier/Heat Question(s)
I left a question on F&P's website and here's they're response. "Thank you for contacting Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. It is normal for the humidifier chamber to stay warm throughout the day even when the machine isn't running. Reason why is because the unit is still drawing energy and power to keep ...

Re: ICON Users - Humidifier/Heat Question(s)
My Icon Auto stays warm all the time. I empty the water chamber in the morning and put it back in the Icon, then turn it on for 15 or 20 minutes to dry out the chamber, passageways, hose and mask (as recommended by my DME). It seems like a waste to keep the chamber warm all the time even when the ma...

Re: Oddly, All Distilled Waters Are Not Equal
I have used only two brands of distilled water: Arrowhead and Stater Bros. I've not had a problem. I empty the reservoir every morning and leave my APAP it running with the heater on to dry out the reservoir and tube. This was advice given me by two different DME's. I would think that distilled wate...

Re: Considering the F & P Icon
am I able to get the software for the Icon? I got my Infosmart software from my DME. Here is a link to some reports so you get a feel. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t75935/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=74966&p=690109#p690109 I don't think it is as data rich as other software, and I plan to get Sleepyhead...

Re: Is there an alarm only for "humidifier empty"?
The only thing that will happen to you with an empty humidifier is that your nose and throat will be dry. That depends on the patient. I can't let my humidifier go dry or I suffer severe sneezing and runny nose for a day or two afterwards. That's just the way it is for me. It sometimes happens if I...

Re: Kaiser Permanente HMO
Thanks Wulfman. I guess I just showed my character defects (sloth, in this case). I should have done that before posting a question. Thanks Janknitz. I just got a new sleep study and APAP and I will be going from Kaiser to Medicare in about 18 months. There shouldn’t be a need for another sleep stud...

Kaiser Permanente HMO
I must switch to Kaiser Permanente HMO from Anthem Blue Cross PPO in a few weeks. Anthem was really no problem. I'm seeking comments from anyone with experience with Kaiser Permanente with regards to Sleep Apnea Treatment and replacement of masks, tubing and the like.
Thanks,
QZ

Re: From Remstar M DS100HS to FP Icon Auto
The transition has gone pretty well. I slept on my side last night and I feel pretty rested. I took care to arrange my pillow to avoid the mask slipping to the side. I raised the minimum pressure from 6 to 7 as suggested by DLB. I don’t have the data yet. I tried 8 but it was too much. I may have to...

Re: Too much or too little humidity
I live in Inland Southern California. Sometimes, especially in the winter when the wind sweeps in from the desert (the famous Santa Ana winds), the humidity is very low. Right now it’s 18 percent. A couple of days ago, I checked at midday and it was 7%! For me, I have to keep track of the humidity a...

Re: Be Careful at Your Sleep Center
There were two deaths reported last year caused by infections from tap water used in a Netipot. http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2011/12/19/143960631/second-neti-pot-death-from-amoeba-prompts-tap-water-warning I always use distilled water in my humidifier because that's what the directions say to do....

Re: From Remstar M DS100HS to FP Icon Auto
Thanks for the comment, Lullaby. Are you using the APAP mode or the CPAP mode? I don’t think Sensawake works unless you’re using APAP (forgive me if this is a stupid question, I’m still learning, having been saddled with basic machines in the past). Last night I went to a boost of 3 and enabled Sens...

Re: From Remstar M DS100HS to FP Icon Auto
Thank you Pugsy for the feedback. Thank you KrisasMan for the info. I should be getting the software today or tomorrow. I'm a Windows XP user, so I'l have to wait a bit for Sleepyhead. Well, I definitely made a mistake disabling the Sensawake, I think. My numbers for last night are: 6.9 hours 2.4 AH...

Re: From Remstar M DS100HS to FP Icon Auto
Thanks again, KrisasMan. I really appreciate your help and hope to learn enough to pass it on before long. The pressure range is set at 6 low and 14 high. The titration I referred to was a sleep study performed last month that led to a new machine. I chose an autopap because I plan to continue to lo...
