CPAP alternatives?

Hi folks! I hate my CPAP and mask. I had finally gotten used to them when I moved and suddenly they made my skin break out in a rash. I tried several creams and moisturizers, but nothing worked. I'm fed-up with them. I've heard of a mouth piece that holds the lower jaw forward, and is supposed to st...

You've done quite well; and deserve something soft and cuddly.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Should I tighten the straps tighter? They're already so tight it hurts.
Thanks for this- it cracked me up!

Re: full face vs nasal mask

i currently use a nasal mask, Have a real problem with congestion especially when I have a cold. I have high blood pressure and have been using and overusing Afrin. My blood pressure is out of control. I know I need to get off the Afrin and want to know if a full face mask would allow me to breathe...

Re: Sick and tired of being sick and tired

I don't believe the chinstrap will help simply because I sleep, and breathe, with my mouth closed. Air only escapes when, in the the past, the blockage caused exhalation or, now, when pressure is too high. I may be missing something being new to all this, but it seems if my jaw was wired shut, air ...

Newbie observations

Hi folks! I've had some interesting goings-on with my CPAP therapy in the 3 weeks since I started. I thought I'd describe them here, in case anyone else has similar issues... At 2 weeks, I saw my DME rep because of inconsistent results- some days I was pinging off the walls, and other days I was mis...

Got passed from person to person with no answers. about noon I received a call that my machine and all were ready for me at the equipment place. They called me and I had an appt at 3 to pick it...

Re: Thanks to ppl on this forum I am almost CPAP phobia free!

Thanks to the kind people on this forum I am almost CPAP phobia free now. My AHI was 121.0 before treatment, and this morning I checked the info page and it said that I had 6 hours sleep with an AHI of 1.4. This is good I imagine? Before I started this treatment, for some reason I thought that the ...

Re: Getting Wired Again!!

I have been on CPAP since late August 2011, , 5 months next week. I do have the Resscan software and showed my history to my sleep doctor yesterday. She said my titation may not be accurate and has ordered a new one for next week. I remember the first night I got titated and it was a joke. Could be...

Re: CPAPTalk.com Bugs? Tell Our Developers Here.

I would like the letter that tells people that I'm female to be the same color as the one that tells people that a user is male. Let's encourage gender equality here by not assuming all females like pink. Thanks for your consideration.

Re: still waiting for results

Ok. I'm starting to loose my patience. I had my 2nd sleep test done 17 days ago. still no word about the results. I've been calling my drs office to find out what the results were. finally, today, they tell me that they havent been evaluated at the sleep center yet. WHAT??? I have to admit that i l...

Re: Humidity setting on ResMed S9 Autoset H5i

Thanks to all. So, when I start the machine, if the humidity is in orange, do I have to click it to blue or will it automatically do the humidity at that level, whether orange or blue? Just trying to make sure it will work when humidity is needed. I wasn't sure about the blue-orange difference eith...

Re: recovering from ? years of sleep deprivation

The AHI score and the wave look good. But I start off with severe fatigue and a mild headache which gets much worse. I am getting 6 to 7 hours of sleep and waking at least once that I know of. I don't take any medications and only take fish oil and a multi vitamin. What I don't understand is how ca...

Re: Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. I think you'll be doing great very soon. I think you have chosen the wrong machine in your profile. The S9 Elite is not an automatic machine. I think you probably have either an S9 Escape Auto or a S9 Autoset. I you are going to check out new masks, I recommend that you try th...
