Re: Orthodontics can cause sleep apnea - Class Action Lawsuit
I had extraction orthondontics that without a doubt caused my sleep apnea. I'd like to be part of this lawsuit. Many of these same practices are still going on and these children will have the same issues we've had. It's beyond criminal. Omar, I've sent you an email. I'm thinking if we use social me...

Re: Looking for a recommendation for a sleep center in US
Hi Jeff, Did you actually go out to D. Krakow's sleep center in New Mexico for a sleep study? What was his reasoning on changing you from CPAP to ASV? I agree with this one. His treatment saved my butt. I had been on CPAP for several years and started having troubles and Dr. K got to the bottom of t...

Re: Help figuring out leak data
It's more of a constantly fatigued, "wired" kind of feeling with brain fog than a sleepy need to take a nap feeling. Been on CPAP for almost 3 years now. Average about 6.5 hrs a sleep per night. Don't think it's fragmented. Rarely wake up in the middle of sleep. Have had extensive blood work and not...

Re: Help figuring out leak data
Thanks for all the info Pugsy.
I updated my comment tag line with my machine info.
The leaks don't wake me up, but I'm still very tired during the day. Guess I just need to continue working with the nasal pillows/mask to see if I can lower the amount of leaks.

Help figuring out leak data
Anyone know if this leak data from Sleepyhead is within the norm? I posted a summary and also my leak chart from last night. I'm using the AirFit P10 nasal pillows and it says the vent flow rate at my pressure (12 cmH2O) is 37 L/min. Is it normal for it to jump up and down so much during the night? ...

Yep, I'll report back on how the surgery goes...probably going to need 6 months of braces so will have the surgery towards the end of this year.
I've got an initial consult with Girod next month. I'll report back on how many MMAs for sleep apnea she has done.

Ah okay, gotcha. I've heard lots of bad things about the UPPP. Thankfully I won't be going for that surgery.

What part of the surgery were they usually not happy with? Any threads you can point to?avi123 wrote:Many posters were not happy with this kind of surgery

Re: Anyone seen the Jaw Surgeon Dr. Sabine Girod at Stanford?
Yes, going to see her for MMA (for sleep apnea). Hi "wut," I actually met with Dr. Capasso. My understanding is he just does the septoplasty and not the MMA. He referred me to a colleague of his at Stanford for the MMA that I met with, Dr. Stanley Liu. Dr. Liu is pretty young though, probably mid 30...

Anyone seen the Jaw Surgeon Dr. Sabine Girod at Stanford?
Has anyone seen the surgeon Dr. Sabine Girod at Stanford? She's a jaw surgeon who primarily focuses on functional/aesthetic surgery but I understand she has some experience with sleep apnea.

Re: Discouraged....brain damage?
Starpilot, In my humble opinion, it seems like in your case your continuing sleepiness is probably not due to brain damage and more likely due to suboptimal CPAP treatment. If it was due to brain damage, there wouldn't have been a point where you felt a lot better from the treatment. You're probably...

Best In-Network MMA surgeon in the Bay Area?
Are there any in-network (CIGNA PPO) MMA surgeons in the Bay Area that someone would recommend? I met with Dr. Kasey Li and I'm probably going to go with him for the MMA surgery, but I was wondering if there are any other good in-network surgeons in the area. I went to Stanford and wasn't especially...

Re: Not getting rest, exhausted and cant find out the problem
Is there any way to test for this brain damage? I've examined my CPAP data with sleepyhead and all my numbers look good but I still wake up feeling terrible and feel "zoned out" throughout the day. Is it possible the CPAP itself impacts sleep architecture? Breathing forced air just doesn't seem natu...

Surgeons in Washington, DC
Has anyone had experience with a surgeon in Washington, DC who does mandibular advancements?
I've struggled with CPAP for the past year, so I'm now seriously (and very reluctantly) considering surgery.
