Re: AHI>10 - 1.5 yrs later
Thanks everyone Here's a bad night while I was still on APAP and A-flex. I did have some centrals show up in my sleep studies, but the clear airways disappeared after getting off the A-flex. Not sure if it was waking me up or if the categorization just changed. http://i42.tinypic.com/1e8glk.png I'm ...

AHI>10 - 1.5 yrs later
Been on CPAP for 1.5 years. My AHI is still averaging over 10 with some nights above 15. I've only experiences a <5 AHI night a handful of times since I've been using the machine - even during testing. And I'm still tired. If I don't use my machine, I feel like I'm hit by a bus, so I know it's doing...

Re: Looking for advice – very high AHI
Have you tried turning off A-flex yet? I'm struggling with high AHI's as well (including many clear airways). Turning off the A-flex eliminated the clear airways. Not sure if it was micro-arousals caused by the A-flex or a change in the algorithm. Worth a shot!

Re: APAP to CPAP - clear airways disappear?
Two more nights. One with APAP, no A-Flex and one with CPAP, no flex. Both nights, no clear airways. I'm thinking either the flexes encourage events or the flex somehow gets read as centrals instead of obstructives. Still have fairly high AHIs (9 and but better than before. I wish I had experimented...

Re: APAP to CPAP - clear airways disappear?
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not putting much stock in it. I did have absolutely zero clear airways detected, which has never happened in the 400+ days I've used it. Overall still not a great night, since I had an AHI of almost 12 (nor do I feel very refreshed). Will keep fiddling with it!

APAP to CPAP - clear airways disappear?
I've been on APAP for over a year and still have high AHI (typically over 8, often up to 15). The majority of these events are clear aways, with some hypopneas, and few obstructive apneas. I also have RERAs of about 4 an hour. I recently had another sleep test which showed very low AHI (around 2) wi...

Re: Flying with cpap
I've also flown several times with it, including internationally, with no problems. Security usually knows what it is. The one issue I've had is somehow forgetting my filters. I'm careful to pack everything and then somehow the filter falls out of the machine while I'm packing it and I don't find ou...

Re: 8 AHI - 6 months later
Thanks for the feedback. I had a max pressure of 16 before but the results were worse so we moved back down to 14. My doctor moved my settings down even lower to 12 max this week. He's concerned that increasing the pressure more would increase central events. If I don't see an improvement in a week,...

Re: OT: My dog had a Seizure tonight
I'm so sorry to hear. It's such an incredibly traumatizing experience. My three year old beagle mutt started having seizures a year and a half ago. We had a hard time controlling them for the first year, with pheno, KBr, and valium (for post-seizure). Finally we took him to a neurologist who put him...

8 AHI - 6 months later
Greetings, After being on CPAP for 6 months, I'm still averaging over 8 AHI. I started out at 28 AHI (including 7 centrals). My pressure settings started at 12 to 14, then moved to 13 to 16, and now I'm at 12 to 14. I'm still getting a significant amount of clear airways, but there are still hypopne...

Re: Trouble Breathing During the Day
I have a similar problem and have tried to link it to my sleep apnea. My sleep doc is adamant that sleep and wake breathing are two separate issues. I haven't found a very strong link in my own research. I did come across hyperventilation syndrome and it seems to make sense - and corroborates why my...

Re: Centrals: When to move to BiPAP?
My first sleep study after diagnosis was supposed to be split between CPAP and BiPAP. Somehow, I only ended up on CPAP and had more than 10 AHI at all pressures, with the central events mostly nonresponsive. The doctor has been concerned about the centrals, but wants to adjust pressure first (yes, I...

Centrals: When to move to BiPAP?
Greetings, I've been on CPAP for almost three months. My initial sleep test showed an AHI of 28 (7 of which were from centrals, and most of the rest were hypopneas - only a handful of obstructives) A few weeks ago my sleep doctor upped my prescription to try and lower my AHIs - which had been averag...
