Re: 1st nite with machine

Hang in there my friend. I'm just 5 days ahead of you and I can tell you that I'm really settling into this. My first couple nights sucked, and last night was the first time in many years I slept through the night. Please keep plugging away, it won't be much longer.

Hey Everyone...I slept through the night!!!!!

6th night was the charm. A little nose spray (for my cold), a slight change in humidity setting, and a tweak on my mask fitting! TA DA! It has literally been years and years since I slept through the night without the use of Ambien. Even when I woke, I really didn't have the urge to rip that mask of...

3 nights under my belt

I have my first cold in years so it has been a difficult start. But I made it 7 hours last night. Still feel like crap, but I'm sure it's the cold. Anywho, I am looking for a patient person, or someone who can point me in the right direction. Looking for something like an IDIOTS GUIDE to managing my...

First night, what a disaster!

So, after all the crap to get diagnosed, and get the machine of my choice, what a lousy first night. I'm not disillusioned, I just got so excited about getting the therapy I needed. Who new I would get my first cold in years yesterday! By 11PM after 2 hours of trying to settle down, I ripped the mas...

Re: newbie needs help on the process

I'm picking up my machine Thursday. My most sincere thanks to all for your valuable information. Seems they got a Resmed S9 AutoSet with humidifier and climate line tube, just as I requested thanks to you all.
My next adventure begins.......effectively using the thing.

Re: newbie needs help on the process

Finally got the script in my hands. The docs office specified the resmed s9 autoset with pressure set 4-20. ( I guess they are getting worn down with my involvement.) When the DME called me, she said they would order the s9 AUTO. Because of all the info I get at the site, I said the AUTOSET. She sai...

Re: newbie needs help on the process

Still have not gotten a machine. Since the DME was being a bit difficult with the machine I wanted, asked the Doc to write the script specifically so I could get a Resmed S9 Autoset even though I am prescribed a pressure of 11. As I mentioned, I thought the Auto would buy some flexibility down the r...

Re: newbie needs help on the process

Ok. He is where I am at. The DME seems to be willing to get me Resmed S9, but not the Auto. They say since the Doc didn't specify auto, it is deemed not a 'medical necessity" and CareCentrix or the insurance company will reject it. Since the Doc prescribes a single, pressure, is the simple fix to ju...

Re: newbie needs help on the process

One last question, I promise. Practically speaking, how important is it to have a local DME? I only have 1 within a reasonable driving distance (Apria). On a day to day basis, is physical proximity that important? Without any experience in this, I'm guessing it's more important in the beginning as I...

Re: newbie needs help on the process

So, I'm not going to have the opportunity to test drive these machines. I'll have nothing to compare them to, no adjustment period for different algorithms. So simply put, if money is no object, which machine should I get? Also, in your opinions, if the doc prescribes a level pressure, so I be a pai...

Re: newbie needs help on the process

Thanks to all for your insights. It's only a week since my diagnosis, and already I've learned so much about the inner workings of the process. Like anything, knowledge is power. In a twisted way, I sort of hope the DME screws with me a little, so I can use some of the wonderful information I have g...

newbie needs help on the process

I just got diagnosed a week ago, and am awaiting for the approval of insurance. Here are my thoughts and questions regarding the process. I may be jumping the gun but am trying to figure out how much input I really have. I haven't see the script, but I know the Doc. doesn't like auto CPAP machines. ...
