Re: is the CMS-50F Wrist Pulse Oximeter a good Oximeter to buy
My CMS-50F was delivered last week, seems to work just fine. I only intend using it very occasionally so I bought it cheap direct from China, delivered for $95. from DoorToDoorShop.com Buying direct is a risk, of course, if it goes wrong. I would have paid a little more to buy from Amazon but they d...

Re: Off the S9 Adapt - On the AutoSV
Thanks, Pugsy. Very helpful.
Manuf date 20120203, only a month old, so 1.02 is likely latest firmware.

Off the S9 Adapt - On the AutoSV
After 5 weeks on the Adapt, I start tonight on the S1 AutoSV Advanced. Adapt was VERY comfortable to breathe with, so I'm sorry to see it go but we're hoping the auto epap on the AutoSV will cope better with my different needs for side and back sleeping. One question for any S1 AutoSV Advanced users...

Re: Effective therapy AHI=5+ ?
All,
you are right of course, ineffective therapy is an insurance factor in me getting ASV rather than bipap. My mind is clearing slowly today, I should not post after a rough night

Effective therapy AHI=5+ ?
Just completed 4th week of therapy (S9 Adapt). Average AHI=5.58 (been fairly consistent over last 2 weeks). Is this sufficient for effective therapy re insurance reimbursement? I thought I saw a clause that therapy has to be 'effective' but now I can't find it (although I'm guessing its a non-issue ...

Re: AHI Readings
Same thing happened to my S9 after 3 days. It reported 0.0 for another few days until I reset it (Power cord out for a few seconds and back in). Has worked fine since. If you unplug it to take it back to DME it will likely start working anyway when you power it back on. So try the reset yourself. On...

Re: OT: Thyroid removed fatigue resolved !!
Interesting post! I also had a Total Thyroidectomy 2 years ago, large (5cm) benign goiter impacting windpipe. I was only diagnosed with sleep apnea recently after continued daytime tiredness and memory loss and a year spent chasing the right daily thyroid dose (fatigue symptoms are similar, we just ...

Re: Respironics vs Resmed ASV
jamiswolf, yes the PR equivalent is likely the System One Bipap AutoSV. Thanks for the correction.

Re: Respironics vs Resmed ASV
Hi, I am also a new user, 3rd week on Resmed s9 Vpap Adapt. My doc has said I may also try the PR System One Bipap Avaps machine. My understanding so far is both are excellent machines, although they have different algorithms. The S9 is more automatic (only 3 therapy parameters to set) but so far I ...

ASV flow rate - it is not ventilating?
ASV users, do you ever show ~zero Flow Rate when you are close to or at maximum absolute pressure? This data image is one event from an hour long identical sequence. It appears to show I am NOT being ventilated, is that so? (epap=10, maxPS=8, so max ipap=18) Sorry if I am being repetitive, I really ...

Re: Using S9 Adapt? What's your max PS?
My question exactly, jamiswolf! I am also trying to understand how the asv works, it appears it can ventilate (that does mean it forces you to breathe, right?) Resmed says PS of 15 will ventilate a 'normal healthy' patient. However I suspect it also 'trains' me how to breathe. johnBfisher, insightfu...

Re: Using S9 Adapt? What's your max PS?
Sorry, jamiswolf i missed your reply. Re absolute pressure setting. The S9 Adapt only has 3 settings (yes, it does cost $6,000): epap setting (4-20), minPS (3-6), maxPS (8-16). That's it! no timing, epr or anything else, it is all automatic. The PS ramps up during an event cycling each breath to inc...
