Resmed auto EPR technical question

I have a newer Resmed S8 auto. When I set it with EPR on (setting 2) with auto, I wake up feeling bad and AI is higher ie; 0.8. When I set it with EPR off with auto, I usually feel better (not great) and AI is lower ie; 0.2. My question is on some people, does the EPR algorithm not function well to ...

Pressure Induced Centrals

For my last study I was told that as the pressure goes above 9 cm I begin to get pressure induced centrals. Lots of them. My prerssure to get rid of obstructives on my back is 11-12. How have others dealt with this?

Thanks very much,
Kurt

I received and used the new Swift LT last night. For me, it was a big imporvement over the original ( I never had the II) and the Opus. Although I liked the concept, I could never get the Opus adjusted to not hurt my nose or leak. This new Swift is very quiet, the pillows are very well designed and ...

DSM, I have a question about the Resmed S8 setting in EPR mode. When set in this mode should IPAP/EPAP setting be similar to a regular bipap machine, correct? Ie: My titration straight CPAP is 9 so the inhale should be 9 and the ERP settting exhale 1, 2 or 3 above the 9 correct? So the actual CPAP s...

Demo Bipap question

I have been given a demo Respironics Bipap Pro 2 to use by my DME while a newer bipap model comes in. I have been using a Resmed S8 in Auto mode for years. I have not slept with it yet just tried it while relaxing to get used to it. My question is it cuts out on the pressure about 3/4 into my in bre...

Snoredog, Thanks for the explaination and picture. I had daily aura migraine connected to apnea. I still have migraine even 100% compliant on cpap. I think I am sensitive to rebreathing CO2 in my full face mask... I am interested in reading more, do you have a link to the the site you found? Thanks,...

Split,

I find your posts interesting.
Is this situation reversable?
Ie; if a person loses the weight that is causing the abdominal compression, does the diaphram function and airway return to "preweight" condition?

Thanks,
Kurt

Will, Have you given up on the Opus? I received mine a week ago. I could seal with the small pillows but exhaling was difficult. The medium pillows leaked until I used dental floss to pull the pillows together as described in a post a few months ago. Now this mask is working great for me. The best s...

CO2 Exhaust Questions

I have cluster headaches which are triggered by CO2 either by apnea and/or rebreathing in the mask. I am looking for the best system to flush out the CO2 without going to an oxygen feed. Through trial and error and reading the posts I have the following questions: 1. For me my Resmed S8 on EPR seems...

Will Succeed,

Does your "side sleeping" and "use when travel" comments mean that you are using the OPUS on a daily basis or have you gone back to another mask?
I am asking because I use the breeze but am looking for a similar option with more" flexible" headgear.....

Thanks,
Kurt

Will Succeed,

I wanted to know how it was going with the OPUS and if it was still working out for you after a few weeks use?
F+P reps here think it will be available in a few months in the USA.

Thanks,
Kurt

I was just diagnosed with hiatal(sp) hernia where your stomach actually extends beyond the sphincter that is supposed to close it off. According to the MD this is very common and 20% of the population has this, especially people with GERD. GERD will definitely interfere with CPAP therapy. The reason...
