Re: water type

I generally proof what I write but still miss some things. But when I saw mother, just didn't think of mouth, LOL. The spell check programs are faulty-- When someone types in 'moth', the first alternative SHOULD be 'mouth', not 'mother' This is what you get when your spell check program is outsource...

Re: OT: Cinnamon

I think there is a lot of evidence that says cinnamon is very beneficial but I've never made a concerted effort other than to use it as a seasoning. I love to put butter on a sweet tater and then I make a mixture of an artificial sweetener and cinnamon and put that on the sweet tater. Yum-yum!!! I t...

Re: Sleep Apnea? You make the call!

I actually do the jerking thing myself and have since I was college aged ( a very, very, very long time ago). It is generally caused by tight muscles that as you relax, jerk. Essentially a release of energy if I understand it correctly. Don't ask me why but it is fairly normal for many people. Mine ...

Re: How many Central Apenas are too many?

Glad you asked this quetion. My central apneas have increased also but not alarmingly so, my AHI is still staying under 1 most nights and I feel better. As far as your feeling better, it takes time. You had very severe osa from what you said so a lot of sleep debt to pay off. It gets better. You are...

Re: water type

Yup, now compressed air makes much more sense when you say mouth. Distilled water. Presuming 'mother' is mouth. When you breathe through your nose, sometimes if you relax your tongue from the top of your mouth, the air will go up your nose then push out of your mouth. If your lips are closed, then y...

Re: water type

No clue about the compressed air but you should use distilled water in the humidifier. You can find it at Walmart or grocery market for less than a $1. what is the right type of water to use in the humidifier? Also why, if I'm using a nasal mask, why, on occasion is my mother also filling with compr...

Re: Opinions on gel cushion nasal masks?

This is probably contrary to what you are asking but have you thought of the Resmed Swift FX Nasal Pillows? Very Light and unobtrusive and if you have no difficulty with mouth breathing, these might be an even better fit than what you are currently using. I had a nasal mask, not sure what kind any m...

Re: Newest member of the 0.0 AHI Club.....

If you've been sleep deprived for awhile, it takes awhile to recover. I know I've heard folks here talk about it taking several months before they really felt the benefits. You may be waking up out of habit. I still wake up some but not as frequently as before and my sleep in between waking up is a ...

Re: EPR at 3, very difficult to exhale

Off topic. You have the new kind of fx. Do you like it. Does it stay looped around your ears? EPR of 3 drops the pressure on exhale by 3 cm...so when you first start out you are using 9 cm on inhale and 6 cm on exhale. I think there is also a timing setting.. Medium or fast....it in the Clinical set...

Re: Getting hot wearing mask

What is your humidity set at. Perhaps if you don't need a higher humidity for nasal congestion, you could turn that down or even turn it off. I have just started on the cpap the past two weeks. Sleeping pretty good with the nasal mask, but now we are having very unusually warm (82 degrees today) wea...

Re: OT:Good Calories, Bad Calories....

Well, I succeeded in stepping on someone's toes which I truly didn't mean to do. I looked at some information on Atkins and carbs are so severely limited in the induction phase that you could hardly eat more than a vegetable or two before you ran out of carbs. Basically makes things carb free. Lack ...

Re: OT:Good Calories, Bad Calories....

I still think most things seemed to be marked by extremism. ATkins says no carbs, that has proven unhealthy, somebody says low fat (no fat is impossible, back in the day, I tried) is the thing and so we go to the extreme and Jan is right, our bodies do need fat. Now somebody says lots of animal fat,...

Re: Opinions on the Mirage Liberty Hybrid Masks

I tried one from the mask library which might be an option for you. Like you, love my fx but I do tend to breathe through my mouth when congested. Thought I'd see if that would work but my claustophobia didn't care for it. I thought it would be okay if it didn't block my vision but I got the same ra...
