Re: Blood pressure
I was first diagnosed with high BP when I was 21. I am now 68. I've been on meds for about 40 years. Some work, some don't, and some have bad side effects. About three years ago I developed atrial fibrillation. I had a sleep study after that. The results were that l did have OSA. So I have been on b...

Re: New Medicare rule for CPAP supplies
I'm on Medicare. I've been on Bipap for 688 days per Bipap machine. I received a letter from my DME in mid 2013 that stated that they had lost the Medicare contract and would not be able to furnish supplies after June, 30, 2013. I stocked up on supplies at that time. In January 2014, I contacted my ...

Re: apnia and atrial fibrillation
My first episode of AF was in November 2011. I was also experiencing pain in my right side. The pain turned out to be a strained muscle. This happened in the middle of the day while I was doing yard work. I thought I might be having a heart attack. My wife took me to the ER and they put me in the ho...

Re: Medicare CPAP not as bad as GLASSES after cataract surgery
This is good news to me. I've worn eyeglasses forever. I'm on Medicare. I didn't know that Medicare covered any eyeglassses. So far I don't need cateract surgery. I order my eyeglasses on the internet at a much lower cost than any retail store.

Re: How long did it take for CPAP results to show?
Never made me feel better. I've been on Bipap religiously for 18 months. In my opinion i've never had a problem sleeping. I had a bout with atrial fibrilation. My cardiologist sent me to a sleep clinic. The results of the sleep study said that I had severe sleep apnea and I have now been on Bipap fo...

Re: Medicare to begin competitive bids
I called my DME today. The lady I talked to said that they didn't win the bid for CPAP equipment, but they did win for oxygen equipment. She said that if I were still in the rental phase (I'm not), I could continue with them until the rental was completed. She will immediately ship to me all the sup...

Re: wisdom teeth removal
None of my wisdom teeth were removed prior to my apnea diagnosis. I'm 67 and I still have all four of my wisdom teeth. After all, how are you going to crack your hickory nuts without wisdom teeth?

Re: OT: where would you go in a tornado?
Where I live the problem is that we get so many tornado warnings that we don't pay attention to them.

Re: OT: where would you go in a tornado?
Our house was hit by a tornado several years ago. The house was not totally destroyed, but most of the roof was blown off, a brick wall bulged and broke and all the windows exploded. The flying glass was like shrapnel. That tornado killed 15 people. We got into an interior hall and we were OK. We on...

Re: Shingles Vaccination for Ages 50 - 59
My wife and I recently had got our shingles shots at the nearest Walgreens. We are on Medicare but don't have part D coverage. We have a Medigap plan through the Megacorp that I retired from. At our age we don't need a doctor's prescription for shingles shots. Our Medigap plan requires that we get o...

Re: Low pulse rate (bpm) = 36...is this is problem?
Last year I was diagnosed with atrial fibrilation. My cardiologist sent me to a sleep clinic as part of the nomal work up and I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. So, that's why I'm here. I've been on bipap over a year. After a catheter ablation to "cure" the AFib, my resting pulse rate is 40-45 bpm. I...

Re: Kitchen stove ~~~ nothing to do with apnea
We recently replaced a 29 year old 27" GE slide-in electric range with a 30" Maytag, self-cleaning, double-oven, freestanding elecric range.. Had to cut out the cabinet so the new stove would fit. From our shopping it appears that 30" is now the "standard" size. Also, freestanding stoves are much ch...

Re: How do I know I when need replacement parts?
I began bipap treatment in January, 2012. I've used my original equipment since then with no problem. However, I also worried about the frequency that some people replace things and how often insurance will pay for replacements. Since we are about to start a new year and a new deductible, I called m...

Re: sleep problems and high blood preasure
I was first diagnosed with high blood pressure at age 21. I'm 67 now. I have been taking BP meds for over 40 years. I think I've tried most of them. Some worked, some didn't work and some have bad side effects. In November, 2011, persistent atrial fibrilation began. My cardiologist took me off the B...

Re: How to find a helpful DME
When I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, I knew nothing about DME's, although a number of DME's advertise in the local media. So, I told my sleep doc/pulmonologist to pick one for me, which she did. This DME turned out to be the place closest to my home. Don't know if doc looked at that. The first mas...
