Re: Adrenal Fatigue: Is it dangerous to "try" Hydrocortisol ?
I have Primary Adrenal Insufficiency (AKA Addison's Disease) that was diagnosed by an endocrinologist. It is a very rare and deadly disease without treatment. My adrenal glands were destroyed by my own immune system. Adrenal Fatigue is something that holistic doctors diagnose and is dismissed by mo...

Re: Those who sleep through the night
I am not one who sleeps through the night, but I want to suggest to you that the quality of the blocks of sleep can be an important improvement even if one is not sleeping straight through the night. I think there's a difference between a night of light intermittent sleep and a few wakeups between ...

Re: Sleep Maintenance Insomnia: Any Advice For Overcoming It?
Why use the larger type? I thought it would be easier for others to read! Frankly, I find the regular type here to be too small but the next option (and I agree with you) is too large. I also find the regular typeset difficult to read.. Did you know you can alter the text size on your side of thing...

<<Are you sure watching you tube isn't a stimulant that is contributing? >> Actually, I wonder Caffeinated. I've thought about it. I have installed f.lux (you can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.lux ). It presumably reduces computer light stimulus after sundown. It is possible, of...

Re: Sleep Maintenance Insomnia: Any Advice For Overcoming It?
I'm seeing Dr. Park as an ENT -- but an ENT who knows quite a bit about sleep apnea. And I agree with you: NO SURGERY!! I view surgery risk as too great. I'm pleased to report that Dr. Rapoport is with Sleep Medicine New York City. Thus, he is my doctor's associate. Possibly my doctor will refer me ...

Re: Sleep Maintenance Insomnia: Any Advice For Overcoming It?
Thanks, Avi. I actually considered flying out to Albuqueque and even contacted Dr. Krakow's office (which never replied). I live in New York City and ended up going to the Sleep Disorder Institute. The doctors said I had insomnia and I followed their sleep restriction protocol. I was still waking t...

Re: Terrific Sleep Therapy Book
I learned a great deal from Dr. Krakow's book. Indeed, I just gifted a copy to a friend who is having sleep apnea problems and also disordered breathing problems. Another good book is SLEEP INTERRUPTED by Steven Y. Park. Definitely worth adding to your bookshelf, right next to your copy of SOUND SLE...

Re: Sleep Maintenance Insomnia: Any Advice For Overcoming It?
CostalSun, Thank you for your suggestions. (I noticed your reply just after I posted.) I know you're absolutely right about CBT. I'm trying to do everything I can think of all at the same time. As for CBT, the important thing for me right now is to go to bed at the same time every night and get up ...

Re: Sleep Maintenance Insomnia: Any Advice For Overcoming It?
What wonderful help and advice from all of you! Avil22 -- I just finished reading SLEEP INTERRUPTED by Steven Y. Park in which he discusses SDB. Your reminder prompted me to return to Dr. Krakow's SOUND SLEEP, SOUND MIND to re-read the pages you kindly pointed out. And, yes, I had read them before,...

Sleep Maintenance Insomnia: Any Advice For Overcoming It?
I was diagnosed two years ago with sleep apnea. I've had the usual problems of figuring out the right mask, etc. Withall, CPAP therapy has worked very well for me with one exception: I have trouble staying asleep throughout the night. I tend to wake about every 2 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours. I can usu...
