Re: How much is mental?
The only mental thing that occasionally bit me was the feeling like I couldn't get all the air in that I wanted. My prescription is low at 8cm... Cold, low humidity air to sleep in (be careful for dryness) was the best fix. I find I'm less sleepy using it, and more importantly perhaps, the wife slee...

Re: How long do machines typically last?
My F&P icon lasted from thanksgiving of 2011 to June of 2017. It would still work if the power supply could be reliable. Its built in so it's not an easy swap. Contemplating whether I attempt repair just to have a spare, especially since I bought an air mini for travel and to fill the gap. Now I hav...

Re: Cankar sores from cpap
I have experienced sores in my mouth twice in a two month period, since getting a full face mask (F20) instead of an over mouth mask with pillows. Me overtightening it isn't out of the question! My inner, lower lip/mouth area, the flesh that covers the lower part of the teeth, lower than the lip its...

Air sense 10 and F20 mask - believe the leaks?
I've had an F20 mask for a while, but recently got an Airsense 10 Auto. It's running at fixed pressure of 8cm. Overall the machine seems to be great, but the leak value seems extreme. Yes, I get green smiley face on all nights, and when doing mask fit test. Full face is selected, and in the myair ap...

Re: Best chances of success without humidifier
Thanks very much. I might try a basin of water near the intake. In case I wasn't extremely clear, my home CPAP (F&P Icon Premo) has a humidifier, and the most I ever set it at was 1 or 2. So I did use it but not a lot. I didn't like the air characteristics if set higher. Im going on two nights with ...

Best chances of success without humidifier
Hello, CPAP user, 8cm setting is recommended. My F&P Icon from 2011 just failed. Ill get another home machine through insurance but I bought a Resmed AirMini with my HDHP/HSA since I travel a lot. Im a mouth breather. Need a mask over my mouth. Have used resmed liberty and Philips amara view as my t...

Re: Water in lungs due to humidifier?
Yes but as the OP, I have a heated hose, the hose never gets logged with water, its purely a moisture/water in lungs issue. The air with any humidity level feels thick and difficult to breathe, like breathing on a 100% humidity day vs when it is really dry. Kind of have gotten used to the feeling, a...

Re:
yah, I know, and I'm not looking for a diagnosis, I was just kind of hoping that it was something that others had experienced, to get a sense of whether its directly related to the cpap or else I need to talk to a doctor. I'm 35, very healthy, with virtually no breathing problems or health issues (...

Re: cpap causes shortness of breath
I just went for what they called a titration last night - they didn't do it when they did the first sleep study because it took so long for me to fall asleep. I tried the mask that fits under the nose first but when the air hit it immediately became uncomfortable. Then, we tried 2 other masks that ...

Re: Water in lungs due to humidifier?
I run my Humidifer at the lowest setting, my room is ranges from 70-72 degrees. It seems to take 2 weeks to run out of water. At that rate, I doubt that much water would stay in my lungs. At 2, it feels too warm and muggy for me. I agree that I too cough when I wake up, but I've always done that wi...

Re: cpap causes shortness of breath
Also make sure you're not hyperventilating. When I first used CPAP I had a tendency to "overbreathe." As hard as it sounds right now, try to just breathe normally. DME suggested putting it on and reading a book or watching TV to get one's mind off of the CPAP. Good advice. Definitely need to get th...

Re: Water in lungs due to humidifier?
I run distilled, changed and cleaned regularly. Haven't run the swift since last sun., yet have been noticing this running humidity in my ffm. Getting good therapy, like ahi of 1-2. We keep our home at 62-65F as it is more comfortable and far lower heating bill. The cpap has a heated hose and has no...

Water in lungs due to humidifier?
Hi, My first month or so on cpap, I solely used an ffm, and for ease and comfort of breathing, left the humidifier off. I liked that best. I got a swift lt, trying to have a smaller profile mask that is easier for me to move around when I move from side to side sleeping. With all the air going in th...

Sores in nose?
Hi, The masks that have seemed to be best for me are the nasal pillow type. So that I feel like im getting sufficient airflow, I use the L size pillows. Air flows good. I keep everything washed well, on two masks. A ffm and a nasal mask (swift lt). I have recently been moving around a lot more to sl...

Re: cpap causes shortness of breath
I'm at 8. I have a full face and a nasal mask. The full face I never feel starved for air. The nasal I do. It's like my lungs don't fill enough. I think it is mainly in the brain - you need to get your mind off. Mouth breathing in the upper lungs gives a certain sensation which, IMO is not conducive...
