I can't wait to see the responses to THIS one...... Especially: All the equipment provider does is provide what they are instructed. Den You know, when I wrote that I thought to myself "Someone is going to take that sentence completely out of its context and jump all over it." I should have known b...

Re: NOT AGAIN!! DME AT IT AGAIN
See, this is where I think the largest part of the problem is coming from in so many of the cases here. You WANT a new CPAP that has these nifty reporting features that your current unit does not have. There isn't any actual specific FUNCTION your current unit is not performing that is required for...

My experiences, and many others, with the medical industry including Sleep Docs and DME's (not CPAP.COM except for Activa sizing) have been "fair" to "horrible". It seems like "fair", meaning adequate not just, it pretty much the best we can hope for. That's not good enough when I spend as much mon...

There was another thread here where I warned about people making snap judgements without having all the facts. I was pretty soundly mocked by the folks posting in that thread, and even given specifics showing me where I wasn't paying attention to the facts. It was then shown that the initial person...

If you currently have a relationship equipment provider, I would check with them. Often they will loan one out to a patient for a night or two at no charge. Not a guarantee of course, but it's worth a shot. However, if you do not currently have a relationship with one in your area, I doubt any of th...

Re: NOT AGAIN!! DME AT IT AGAIN
LPN wrote a script for APAP and they will not honor that either. I was hoping for a compromise to a PRO2. Is it not the DME's job to fill the prescription your doctor gave them? I don't understand this. How can they refuse to give you what the doctor prescribed? Clearly, they don't stand to make as...

So when the cost of a machine through a traditional DME is double or more than double the cost of the identical machine from an online vendor, it's the insurance companies who are keeping all that extra money? First off, show me ANY case where an insurance claim has been "double or more" what anyon...

I just happened to run across this thread awhile ago and thought it kind of fit this discussion (price/quality/service). http://www.apneasupport.org/about4571.html I don't think anyone will argue that on the whole - most peoples experiences with Apria are not entirely positive. BUT - if you are goi...

I personally have no problems with providers making a reasonable profit if, big if , they provide quality care but based on my experience they often seem to be mutually exclusive. ... I believe, no facts but observation, this is because the market feedback loop is broken. An interesting viewpoint. ...

If I order the very same machine through a DME, it costs $1300.00. The manufacturer makes a profit and the DME makes a profit. I have not seen a case where an insurance company contracted for anywhere near that amount of money. Even if there was, remember - this is the INSURANCE company determining...

Heh. I'll give it a go. I'm sorry if you feel the need to get personal with this. I was simply giving a different side to an issue. What the heck though, I'll answer your questions: 1) "1. Is the doctor's statement correct - is compliance the only data he can get from the machine? " I haven't the fo...

Okay, how about we all just take a step back here and try to help this nice poster out without throwing all sorts of accusations around. In answer to your question - can the lowered pressure HURT you? Not as such, no. Chances are such a small drop of 3cm will not cause a dramatic change one way or t...

Anyone got a clue why they caved? All I did was offer to pay the DIFFERENCE between the machines. Now, they want $35 for the "water chamber" and I'm ok with that And then I asked how much for the switch-out and she said "Don't worry about it." ... Do these DME offices attempt to sell used units at ...
