Re: Correct way to have nasal pillows
I had no idea what the lettering says, it's way too small to read!

Re: Correct way to have nasal pillows
Thanks. That's what I thought. I think I have the problem figured out. I have a new nasal pillows and had not used it yet. Put it on this afternoon for my nap and no leaking. The old one doesn't have any tears in it (the one before that got a tear), so I just assumed it wasn't the culprit. But we al...

Correct way to have nasal pillows
Does anyone know what is the correct way to have the nasal pillows for the Resmed Swift FX headgear? Does the printing that's on the pillows go on the top or bottom? I just bought new headgear a couple months ago and it leaks really bad. To the point where I think it's affecting my sleep, I'm a lot ...

Re: Anesthesia and sleep apnea
MargaretM, I have cognitive issues and propofol caused zero problems when I was twice put under anesthesia the past few years. My procedures weren't as extensive as yours but I was still worried I would be very susceptible to worsening effects. I worried needlessly. Forgive me if I have mentioned t...

Re: Anesthesiologist detect apnea?
They should, if they are really doing their job, not sitting reading a book or joking with the OR staff. Jim If they are just waiting for the montor to go crazy, not so much. I found out about mine from my heart By-pass, took them 20 minites in the OR to tube me/ Was it the apnea that made it so ha...

Re: Anesthesia and sleep apnea
Actually, from the sound of it, you're quite like very many patients these days... arthritis, diabetes and other similar conditions are rampant and yet many, maybe most of those routinely have surgery every day and a big proportion of them also have apnea, half of them undiagnosed. Don't worry at a...

Re: Anesthesia and sleep apnea
I almost cancelled the procedures (there are 3 he wants to do). Worrying about this is consuming my mind 24/7. I'm used to sleeping 8-9 hours a night, now I'm getting 4-7. So, a week ago last Friday, I called my gyn's office to cancel. His secty spent 20 mins on the phone with me and convinced me to...

Re: Any success stories of beating sleep apnea by losing weight?
Plus most cahage back to their old habits, and gain it back in spades. Sorry if this is not what you want to hear, just a honest reality. Good luck losing the weight and keeping it off. Jim Very true, it's hard, which is why I always watched my weight and nipped it in the bud before it got out of h...

Re: Anesthesia and sleep apnea
Once I had discussed my concerns with the anesthesiologist, there were no problems. The only glitch was that the hospital I was in put me on a diet for T1 diabetics (very high carbs), --even though I had INSISTED on a low carb diet, which I need to keep my T2 blood sugars in a healthy range. Knuckl...

Re: Anesthesia and sleep apnea
Thank you for the responses. Most of you have been very reassuring, one response is troubling. Someone mentioned Propofol. That is what they use here, according to my gyn. The Michael Jackson drug. (he said he doesn't know why on earth that dr used propofol on MJ) According to the literature I was g...

Anesthesia and sleep apnea
If this is off topic, please forgive me and maybe someone can direct me as to where I can ask. I have been using a BiPAP for going on six years now, use it every night (can't sleep without it if power is out) and according to the sleep clinic, it's working. I am faced with the situation of possibly ...

Re: Report From a Newbie AKA What Is The Point of That?
OP, have you had your oxygen levels tested? I'm not seeing much improvement with CPAP either, but my oxygen levels were low, too. get the results of an overnight oximeter test tomorrow. Frankly, if they can't get me feeling better with CPAP or BiPAP, I will seriously consider stopping it. My CPAP ed...

Not feeling better
Hi, I am new to the forum and to CPAP. A bit of history: 48 years old, severe shortness of breath over a couple years. Doctor sent me to respirologist a year ago and he diagnosed Sarcoidosis but also suspected apnea. He arranged a sleep study but I cancelled it as I was not willing to wear a CPAP an...
