Using Aircurve 10 VAuto - but need replacement advice

I've been using the Aircurve 10 VAuto for the last 6 years or so. About 8 or 9 months ago it reached its manufacturer's suggested motor life. Other than needing to clear the "motor life exceeded" message each morning, it appears to be operating without issue. I've been waiting for the Resmed Aircur...

Need Help Finding High Pressure Tolerant FF Mask

I have been unable to find a full face mask that won't leak. My pressure is set at 17 and I must have a strange shaped face or something because I've tried mask after mask with no luck. I'm currently using the Softgel nasal mask and taping my mouth shut every night (insert joke here). I know everyon...

S8 VPAP Auto 25 vs S9 Autoset

Could someone tell me if there is a major difference between these two machines aside from the S8's BiPAP feature? Is this the reason for the huge price difference? (S8 VPAP Auto 25 $1856 and the S9 Autoset $853.) Is the BiPAP feature that expensive? Thanks.

Re: CPAP vs Auto VPAP

Thanks to all for the info. I now have a better understanding of how the auto works versus the straight CPAP. Looks like I won't be able to open my own sleep clinic with the equipment I have. Thanks again for the responses.

CPAP vs Auto VPAP

I was wondering if someone was able to help me better understand why I've been getting lower AHI numbers using the CPAP setting on my S8 VPAP Auto. For over a year I have been on Auto VPAP mode, but was having trouble getting by AHI number below 13. (VPAP settings of 20/12.) After just about giving ...

Re: Need Help with Settings - AHI in the 20s

The mask is only a few weeks old and I'm using the large pillows. They fit better than the medium. But maybe I should try the medium again. I just started using the Lanisoh, so perhaps less creame would be worth a try also. Thanks.

Need Help with Settings - AHI in the 20s

This has been an ongoing issue for me and I'm embarrassed to say that after 3 years in CPAP therapy, I'm still confused by my numbers and what they really mean. (Other than a high leak rate and high AHI is bad.) My equipment listed below is current. I had been mouth breathing and finally got a handl...

When Mouth Taping Isn't Enough

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to prevent my Swift II nasal pillows from leaking? Love the mask and have been using nasal pillows for a couple of years now. My AHI has been creeping up from an initial low of around 2 to its current 22. So I realize that I'm not getting the proper therapy. Orig...

New Study Finds Link to Atrial Fibrillation

New research shows that sleep apnea increases the risk of having heart arrhythmias. Sleep apnea is believed to be linked to atrial fibrillation but until now, we didn’t know if apnea could actually trigger arrhythmias like afib. Here is a link to the story. http://www.stopafib.org/newsitem.cfm/NEWSI...

S8 VPAP Auto Setup Question

I just ordered a Resmed S8 VPAP Auto from my DME and should receive it later this week. Rather than go through the dance with my DME, can anyone tell me how to enter setup/programming mode? I like to have access to this area - even if I never need to make a change. If anyone has a copy of the clinic...

Hi Marshaeb. Welcome to the forum. As you've undoubtly already discovered, this site is an endless resource for information and help.

One possible way to detect if you're mouth breating is if you wake with a dry mouth. Hopefully your equipment will provide additional info for you.

Re: Why is my AHI so high?

Actually, I was going to suggest this one: http://www.snoremeds.com/ It costs less at $45, is a double unit which marketed as a snore reduction device, it will advance your mandible a tiny bit which opens the airspace up at the back of the throat, this may result in few apnea events seen in additio...
