Re: Night sweats - part 2

... One reason I am concerned about my night sweats is, back in August/Sept, when my new apnea therapy was working well, I had no night sweats. After have lived with this condition for years, I was elated not to have to deal with the dreaded night sweats. Now that they are back...well, it is just d...

Night sweats - part 2

Well, I have decided to see my sleep doctor about my ongoing sleep problems. If you looked at the data (I use Sleepyhead), it looks like I am a model cured apnea patient. My AHI is below 5 (usually between one and three). My problem is that I keep waking up at multiple times each night and the night...

Re: CPAP and Ambien

Ron M, "Is it time to stop messing around and go back to the sleep doctor?" I'm not sure what you're meaning is here. Do you not want to take the ambien? Yes, I would NOT like to take the Ambien. I have a thing about being dependent on taking a daily medication. Also, after I was taking it for the ...

Re: CPAP and Ambien

I agree with robysue. Ambien can help you get over the initial adjustment period. You may not need it if you have no problems sleeping with the machine. I think you had a smart doc. He was proactive and gave you something to help you sleep if needed, and you don't have to take it if you don't need ...

CPAP and Ambien

Is it normal, as part of your therapy, for a doctor to prescribe Ambien ( or its generic) and part of your CPAP?

Re: Hoe to change sleep doctors

I suggest that you do it as asking for a second opinion because: 1) The new Doc that the insurer assigns to you might be lousier 2) The provider might refuse to release copies of your medical records. See here when and why: http://policies.ncsu.edu/regulation/reg-11-45-6 I am new at this and I have...

Re: Hoe to change sleep doctors

How can WE possibly know what your insurance situation is??? Call your insurer and ask for another sleep specialist on your plan. Find out if you need a new referral from your primary care physician or pre-authorization for the visit. Then meme the appointment and request that your medical records ...

Hoe to change sleep doctors

Has anyone tried to change their sleep doctor? I will not go into it, but my doctor and I am not agreeing.

What do I need to know before I do this, especially from an insurance perspective? Please let me know.

Re: Health Insurance Premiums Up by Half Since 2003

What did you expect when health insurance is run by a for-profit system? Last two years my employer health insurance went up 10% each year. Did the economy go up 10%? (No) It was what the the health insurance thought they could get away with. It the new American way. It is not if it is right or wron...

Re: Return of the night sweats

So, does this sound like the right approach? Yes I noticed on some boards they want no dicussion whatsoever of "self titraion" Yes, some boards will actually remove your posts if they are advocating the patient doing anything without a physician being directly involved and won't even allow posting ...

Re: Return of the night sweats

Turned the humidifier off last night and got the same results. While not 100% gone, the night sweats have been greatly reduced. Since I still have the problem of waking early in the morning, I am starting to tweek my pressures. My APAP was set at 10 cm/ 15 cm. On Sat I took the lower level up to 10....

Robysue

Wow, great information here on the data. Thanks for breaking all of this down. I was looking on how to read the data and this was very helpful

Re: Return of the night sweats

I tried something different last night. I lowered the setting on my Humidifier. It was 4; I lowered it to 1. Even though I still had night sweats, I had a noticeable improvement. I still woke up (around 3:30am) but nowhere near as sweaty. Also able to get back to sleep. I know that others have encou...

Re: Return of the night sweats

Well, nothing of great excitement on that report. Have you used SleepyHead to zoom in on those events (obviously not many) that occurred in the time frame where you woke up? Perhaps look to see if it may have been unusually long? Which could stress the body? Using the Events tab in SleepyHead...the...
