Any sleepweaver mask tips?

I have started trying out the sleepweaver mask and although I like the lightness of it and it is more kind to my skin, I find I am waking up often in the night with leaks. I've tried tightening, then loosening the straps on both the head and the face but nothing seems to work all night. I also wear ...

Re: Belly full of air?

Just to let you know Kim a lot of us have been where you are now, including myself....totally frustrated and wondering if you'd be better off not using cpap. At least you could sleep before right? You didn't mention how long you've been trying but hang in there. Try different masks or ask your dr ab...

Re: new robotic surgery

@ Guy, I think the surgery they profiled on the 30-something police officer was done in New Jersey but I don't believe it actually mentioned a hospital. I need to do the Google search also to see if it is anywhere closer to me. Here's the link to it if you want to view the segment ..... http://today...

new robotic surgery

I just saw on NBC's the Today show, a new robotic surgery for sleep apnea sufferers. I think it is fairly new and of course, not for everyone, but it appears to be much more effective than the 'traditional' surgery for sleep apnea. I'm hoping sometime yet in my lifetime, hopefully sooner rather than...

Re: Day four, Arggghhh, cheer me up.......

I'm only a month into this and had a horrible time with insomnia and getting used to the mask also. But 10 days into it, I started trying melatonin and it definitely helped me. I only sometimes take it now and am able to sleep well, most nights. You sound like you have long time insomnia though and ...

Re: Occupy Wall Street: Brilliant or Incompetent?

It's kind of funny that when the people of Egypt and Libya were protesting, our government said let them protest and complained about the harsh tactics being used against the people over there. But now, we are having our people, peacefully protesting, getting pepper sprayed in the face while they're...

Re: chin straps

I might add, like John, I find the Respironics chin strap to be comfortable though. Even when I have noticed that it has slipped, it's just changed in position somewhat. I might do what John suggested and put it on first.

Re: Help with SD card...quick!

Just a thought (I'm very new at this), has the little tab on the top been pushed to the lock position?

Re: nasal mask wearers and colds

@ Randy and Javatime......whether you buy the packs or make it yourself, do you use all 8 oz per day then, 4 oz per nostril I assume? I can see doing this easily while taking a shower. And Randy, does any 8 oz plastic squirtable bottle work? Do you disinfect these after use at all?

Re: chin straps

I'm trying a respironics premium chin strap (that's the only name on it) and it works some nights but sometimes tends to slip some. It's the only one my DME had so maybe I'll do some homework and request another. Although for me, I generally re-position it and it's alright, and my leak rate is still...

Re: nasal mask wearers and colds

Hmmmm......All good things to think about. I don't generally cough too much when I have a cold, it's generally more the runny nose and nasal congestion. Although it just depends on what pesky virus I have managed to pick up. I usually take an allergy med like claritin to help with the runny nose iss...

nasal mask wearers and colds

I'm curious....do most nasal mask wearers have a backup full face mask when congestion due to colds happens or do most treat the congestion problems with an OTC decongestant. I don't like the side effects of cold remedies very much at all and am thinking of trying out a FFM the next time I can get o...

Re: Sleep and Memory article....

Yes, Thanks for posting! I'm always looking for threads like this to give me hope for my symptoms of poor memory, depression, low energy levels and the like associated with sleep apnea. I'm so early into this and have just started getting used to the mask and cpap and am sleeping better most nights ...
