New machine question/suggestions
I have my annual exam coming up next month. After my original sleep study I have never been brought back for another one, and it will be four years next month since I started wearing my cpap. I use the basic resumed with humidifier, and other than some leaks when my mask gets old, I think I do o.k. ...

Re: Cant keep mask on
I have the same machine and have been using it for over three years. While it has been challenging at times, over all it has been a good machine for me. One of the things I noticed that caused me to remove my mask at night was the temperature. If it is a bit warm, I tend to remove the mask. Try lowe...

Re: mouth breathers with nasal masks
I don't think cpap will stop me from breathing through my mouth. I, like others who posted here, have a small and stuffy nasal passage, narrow mouth, etc. I also have a deviated septum. All of this affects the way I breathe normally.

Re: Cushion popping in resmed quattro fx mask
The rubber band trick worked! I used a thin rubber band and hooked it over the top tab of the cushion. I looped it under the snap on piece on front and under the vent plugs on the bottom. No popping all night!

Re: mouth breathers with nasal masks
When I fit it lower on my nose, where it is suposed to go, it coversthe tip of my chin, lol. I have a very short area between my chin and my bridge of the nose. I am guessing I am not the only one.

Re: mouth breathers with nasal masks
I have the hybrid, but my nostrils are too small for the nasal pillows. I can't win, haha. I will try emailing them as well. The woman doing my sleep study was considering putting me in a child's mask during my test. I may ask for a smaller head gear as well, as soon as I wear the medium for a few d...

mouth breathers with nasal masks
Hello, I have been using a full face mask for over a year since I am a mouth breather. I am having so much problems with masks, it has become quite frustrating. I am wondering, are any of you mouth breathers who use a nasal mask? If so ,what should I ask my dr for and what should I do to have succes...

Re: Cushion popping in resmed quattro fx mask
This happens to me nightly! It is driving me crazy. Somewhere here I thought I read about putting a rubber band on it. I am going to try the rubber band tonight. If no luck, tomorrow night I go with the dental floss. I am tired of losing sleep because I wake up from the leaks, and my dr. says he has...

Re: DME replacement schedule BCBS Excellus (NY)
I have BCBS Excellus in NY (Utica area). I am not sure if the coverage differs with employers, but here is what mine covers: -a new cushion once a month. -a new mask and cushion every four months. -a new hose every four months (could be three to be honest, I just go with four when I need it) -filter...

Re: Help! Trouble with mask fitting
I wonder if the nasal cushion things (not sure of official name ) may be too big, when I first did my sleep study the tech who wired me up felt my nostrils were too small for a nasal mask. I will try the option of Biotene for a dry mouth. Not sure the liberty is going to work for me. Seemed like eve...

Re: Help! Trouble with mask fitting
They have. I am on mask number two. I had this problem before, but after trying a different fit to my face, it stopped. I have since lost about ten pounds and have no luck. I wear a size small so can't go smaller.

Help! Trouble with mask fitting
Help! I was happily using the resmed quattro fx, with little problems until last month. Then, the cushion began popping out of the frame at night (which had happened a few times before, but not many) which woke me 4-5 times or more to put it back in. I went to my provider, and they replaced it three...

Re: orthodontic upper palate expansion -- has anyone tried DNA?
I had orthodontia treatment with a palate expander at the age of 28. It was somewhat painful, but only if my "key" was turned too much in a day. Other than that, it really wasn't bad. However, it did not improve my apnea, obviously. Sorry.

Re: Do I really need new mask cushion every month?
I actually do need to replace it about once a month. The oils from my skin tend to break down the cushion quicker than average, I have to replace mine about 3 times as frequently as my husband. Depending on the time of year, I can sometimes get six weeks or so out of one.
