EXPERIMENT ~ Different machines, different pressures
ok so I have noticed a dramatic drop on the pressures needed (the number on the screen) between the icon auto and the m series auto. on the m series my 90% pressures were 19.5, on the icon with the same pressure spread (13 to 20) the pressure is 17. ( another weird note is average ahi dropped from 5...

Re: VERY impressed with cpap.com
I was momentarily charmed by the appearance of the ICON, but I'm addicted to my S9 Autoset data. . . A word to the wise: I discovered that on my insurance, out-of network purchases can apply toward in-network deductible; but the claim needed to be filed within 6 months. I'll be sure to check for ch...

Re: VERY impressed with cpap.com
Searched some more and found it. Looks like $60 sold seperately. Didn't see it on cpap.com but on another site. If you travel a lot it may be worth the investment. Brenda Yep i can grab it seperately which is good. IT would have been good to be aware of that before puchase though, as it seems that ...

Re: VERY impressed with cpap.com

Heres a pic of the hard case. It certainly comes standard from my DME. I suspect it isnt shipped with cpap.com because of the additional postage costs

Senseawake on F&P icon series REVIEW
SO I havent been using CPAP for too long.... but I wanted to put forth a bit of a review on the icon series as well as and in perticular the senseawake feature. I have to say I am quite impressed with this machine overall. The one feature I am missing from the resperonics machine is the auto switch ...

Re: VERY impressed with cpap.com
Well the end result was quite good. Got my new CPAP machiney in under a week! Was somewhat disappointed the machine didnt come with the hard case AND soft case I would have gotten from the DME, and from my understanding comes as standard... but other than that an overal good experience and a new CPA...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
Actually you do require a prescription in Australia for CPAP. You fdont require it for the mask though again like I said... i did not call it deadly. You are the one exagerating. I said their can be serious complications to CPAP. An air pocket in the skull is VERY serious, and thats just one of the ...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
I DO think everyone deserves god medical care--Geat medical care even...but it isn't gonna happen in the USA. My insurance paid for my sleep studies, but did nothing about an incorrect titration. My family MD knows I self titrate and I have his blessing. He told me to figure it out for myself and I...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
Seriously I did not say CPAP can kill you, please dont over react to something I did not say. I have to say I do not understand the quite agressive reactions to the suggestion that CPAP use should be monitored as it can have serious complications in some people. I would have thought a forum which is...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
Even if someone cant afford a sleep study they should be able to afford at least to go see a doctor on a 6 monthly basis and be monitored. and to go originally at least to have a check up and eliminate other possibilities. YEs this may mean some sacrifice, but this is their health we are discussing....

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
Nichola, What would you suggest someone do that had no insurance, no way to pay for a sleep study and spouse had witnessed an apnea event? Many, many people work but have no health insurance and no way to pay and due to the fact that they work, they are denied state aid which would help pay. Here i...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
It sounds like somebody is looking for an excuse to not get treated. What the 'professionals' know is quite often little better than the prevailing state of the art when they (or their teacher) first hung up a shingle. Continuing education in this field is, sadly, hit or miss--sadly, way too many m...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
Just a bit more on the side effects, while rare Severe side effects may include heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias), severe nose bleeding, and air pockets in the skull. Holy shit, now I think I will trash my CPAP machine lest it kill me tonight. *groan* its not for anyone to stop using it... but i...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
You NEED a sleep study before you start playing around with a CPAP machine. That's not necessarily true for every person. Did you watch the presentation in my link above? Link to a Powerpoint presentation by board certified pulmonolgist/sleep doctor (Dr. Barbara Phillips) at a meeting of the Americ...
