Down three lightbulbs
A couple months ago, I moved my nightstand so that I could get my bikes in and out of my apartment easier. This meant my CPAP, and it's power bar, was switched over to a different outlet. Soon thereafter, my light (on a third pair of outlets, that survived having the AC on it in previous summers) di...

Adventures with falling pressure
Last time I was here, the pressure I slept at was higher. Recently, my machine's CPAP-Check mode decided to drop pressure all the way down to 6.0, the bottom of its range. It is an interesting experience. I do find it more challenging to breathe while awake with so low a pressure. To me, it feels al...

Re: Colonoscopy and sleep apnea
My most recent colonoscopy was performed out of the hospital, and it was… interesting. No gowns, prep instructions included suggestions of which liqueurs to mix with the Moviprep, and I even took medications that they wanted me to avoid in the week before the procedure (not my fault, they phoned me ...

It's warming up nicely up here in Toronto. Yesterday, it was -23°C with a windchill of -39 when I left for work. Now it's up to -15°C with a windchill of -23.

Re: Autism and maternal apnea
Or they live healthy, contented, independent lives in the community (in nice warm houses or apartments) where the only people who know are themselves, their doctors, and perhaps a couple close friends. No drugs, just a little space set aside for their own needs and hobbies. Just how do you think th...

Re: Autism and maternal apnea
I do agree with you that it is under diagnosed in adults. Not only is it under diagnosed, many professionals seem to think that it ends at 18 or in early adulthood based on the number of services for those age groups vs. nothing for people older who have the disorder. Older people go to prison or t...

Re: Autism and maternal apnea
The increased rates of autism have less to do with the boogeyman du jour, and more do to with widening definitions of what is considered "autism" and people being more willing to accept that dianosis. Today's version of "autism" is underdiagnosed in adults, but what was considered "autism" forty or ...

Re: Medical Patient Portals
My electronic records are shared between my family doctor's and my psychiatrist's offices, and it hasn't caused any problems for me. My psychiatrist doesn't enter her notes into the computer, favouring the pen and notepad. All that is seen at my family doctor is when my appointments are and any test...

Re: Question regarding Cost of Equipment in Canada
In Ontario, not all CPAP prescriptions and titrations allow you to get an APAP (such as an S9 Autoset) through the ADP. IIRC, for that you need a minimum pressure of 10 and an increase of at least 4 in a different stage or position. I don't meet those requirements, and so my ADP-partially-covered ma...

Did you also switch to the 80W power supply? You can tell which one you have by reading the label on the underside of the power brick.

Re: If you just lost a bunch of weight
Sludge, any possibility of a "boot camp" for "connective tissue"? I think that might drop my AHI, and even if it doesn't, it should at the very least put an end to my physio's horrible exercises.

Re: Extreme bloating and stomach pain
There have been many references to this; it is called "aerophagia". If you search on that term, you'll find many threads discussing it. On nights when I have it that badly, the pain wakes me up and I burp multiple times throughout the night, along with curling up colonoscopy-style and fart out as mu...

Re: CPAP machine with LCD
The biggest problems with viewing quick summary data on the PRS1 Auto have been dealt with in the current version of the machine. The earliest 550P machines didn't even have a backlight, much less last night's summary. It has been improved upon since then. The more detailed graphs are easier to hand...

OT: Winter running gear
I recently started running (still with lots of walking), and the person who leads the learn-to-run group that I'm in asked if I would run in an upcoming 5k. I said yes before December's weather occurred to me. So, how do I dress for a run that will be at freezing temperatures (and possibly a below-f...

And I thought I was just too young to get it. Being female isn't helping.
