Re: Respironics Heated Humidifier

On the subject of the heated humidifier - I am wondering how warm the plate should feel to the touch? I have checked mine immediately after turning off the machine, after running all night, and the bottom plate is JUST barely warm - it seems to me that that would not really "heat" any water in the t...

Update on Auto On/Auto Off Issue

This is a follow up to my posting yesterday about not getting the auto on feature to start. I tried it again now and just have to blow REAL hard and it will begin after about 3 tries. I have to blow as hard as if I'm blowing my nose and I kind of don't like that idea (blowing "stuff" in the nasal pi...

Re: Reducing the size of a Swift FX

I have this mask also - I read somewhere that the top piece should be looser than the velcro back strap, which should be tighter. The top should be loose enough to easily get a couple fingers under it. You could also attach a self stick piece of velcro (prickly side) to the velcro back strap to keep...

Re: Getting Auto On and Auto Off to Work

I did try to put the resistance setting to "0" but it won't go below "one" so just left it there. I never did think I had much lung capacity so maybe that's it! Not much breath! Seriously. But I'll try it again with more breaths and see. And Cat Week was cute - thanks for the tip.

Re: Getting Auto On and Auto Off to Work

I do have size small nasal pillows so maybe that is the reason this doesn't work. I tried to get it to come on today during the day and rechecked the setting several times to make sure it was set to "on." It was. Don't have another mask. I'll try it again tonight and try to breathe deeper. No I didn...

Re: CPAP VS APAP

I am a new user of about 6 weeks - my first Respironics System One APAP was replaced because the pressure seemed to have changed by itself, going from the initial 6 to 10 and the DME could not reset it as the machine seemed to be stuck on 10. None of my variable pressures during the night have been ...

Re: Getting Auto On and Auto Off to Work

Sorry I didn't post complete information about my equipment (and I have added that to my profile). I have a Respironics System One Remstar Auto A-Flex with SD card, a Respironics System One Heated Humidifier and the ResMed Swift FX Nasal pillows (paperwork also calls this is Mirage Swift FX). So, no...

Getting Auto On and Auto Off to Work

My machine (System One) has a setting for having the system start automatically when I put on the mask and stop when I take it off. Even though I set it to "on" it does not seem to work - am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the help.

Re: AHI Interpretation on Machine

Thanks for the reply. My AHI at the sleep study was 18 and now is down to about 2.5 after 6 weeks of CPAP (although I have seen a lower average at times). The dr. seemed very happy with the numbers but it just seemed to me that I shouldn't be having any apneas - didn't think to ask him this question...

Strange Pressure Change

I am new to this board and a new CPAP user (one month) and wanted to share a strange experience I had with my machine. Am wondering if others have had this happen. I have a Remstar System One Auto A-Flex (use Swift FX nasal pillows) and was initially set up with a pressure of 6 with the range being ...
