Re: Will I become depedant on CPAP Mask?
Well, I have. But only because when I don't use it I start having apneas even before I am totally asleep. This is so disturbing to me that I wake up and make sure I either don't go back to sleep, or put on the mask and go to sleep. I spent too many years living in a fog, too tired to function and al...

One of my students told me this one, I thought it was hilarious. Perhaps that says something about me...
What does a cigarette and a squirrel have in common?
They are both perfectly harmless until you stick it in your mouth and light it on fire.

Re: Coping with CPAP
It takes awhile to get used to the mask. At first I would wear it when it wasn't bed time. (thanks to the good advice I got here!) I put it on and read, took naps, played on my phone. I had been tired for so long that the good rest I got while asleep with the mask on made an immediate difference. My...

Re: Hubby's getting a sleep study!!
Here's an update: Hubby did his first sleep study at the clinic last night. He said he performed for them very well!! Frequent restroom breaks, snoring, night sweats, waking up gasping for air etc. He sees the sleep Dr. on Monday. I have a lot of confidence in this doctor, but have been praying for ...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
Hi All, First I want to say thank you to all the kind folks who have posted their advise and stories. You have all really helped me! I am 2 months into CPAP treatment and things just keep getting better. Yesterday we had a big family dinner. For the past few years I have not had the energy to make a...

Re: Emerging...
Hi, Your story is so inspiring! Nice boss! I agree with the others, doctors just won't consider sleep apnea. I had a sleep study done years ago because I told my GP that I was waking up in a panic, gasping for air. The DME that did the testing called me and asked why I hadn't seen the sleep speciali...

Re: Hubby's getting a sleep study!!
I really like my CPAP machine, it is quiet and the humidifier works great. But I really trust this Doctor, and I think she would find the one that is the best for whatever problem he is having.

Re: Help! Which Pillow Mask Should I Get?
I use a nasal pillow and I really like it. I felt like it was too precarious at first, but I would check the machine and it said the fit was right. It took a while to get the straps adjusted so it was comfortable, and I still have some adjustment to do. I woke up one morning with my nose really sore...

I am in Utah Valley, 30 minutes south of Salt Lake. I see Dr. Julia Meyer. She has been great. I have used DME in Pleasant Grove. Very accommodating and helpful.

Hubby's getting a sleep study!!
When I started getting help for my apnea I wanted my husband to check it out too. He said he would, and last week he had an oximetry done. He talked to our GP yesterday and is being refered to a sleep specialist. I am so excited for him. Now that I am starting to have more energy I see how tired he ...

Re: POLL: How effective is your therapy?
I paused a moment before choosing my answer. It had been so long since I felt normal that I wasn't sure what it was. After 3 weeks on my CPAP, I feel better than I have in years. I'm not getting overwhelmed by small things. I'm cheerful and vocal. I am keeping up on housework and doing better on the...
