Re: Aerophagia poses catch-22 dilemma

Hiccups does go with GERD. Have you tried raising the head end of your bed on 5" blocks of some kind - apparently it really helps, and seems a little less daunting than dealing with Ayurvedas . I have tried raising bed at about 4", but it didn't make a noticeable difference. BTW, I don not hiccup a...

Re: Aerophagia poses catch-22 dilemma

Curious to ask if you've ever had an endoscopy? Or tried taking small amts before bed of either something uncomplicated like a small TUMS, or possibly even Beano (if only to see the effects)? Thanks for your reply. Your suggestion of taking calcium carbonate or charcoal tablets sounds novel. It sou...

Aerophagia poses catch-22 dilemma

Successful treatment of my complex sleep apnea has been been frustrated by unresolved aerophagia issues spanning over many years and I don't know where to turn for answers. Simply put, I have a long history of interrupted sleep due to aerophagia, particularly occasional hiccups, while asleep. Under ...

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

Perhaps, as some have suggested, sleep apnea is a permanent condition. I, for one, am excited about the results Dr. Gominak is seeing in her patients, and I am hopeful I, too, can "park" my machine after adjusting my vit. D levels and losing weight. It might be premature for me to wean myself from C...

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

I just received results of labs on Vit D. After taking 10K IU per day for four weeks, my levels have increased from 23 ng to 52 ng. My doc is having me increase amounts by an additional 10K per week to bring me closer to the targeted 60-80 ng range. I am also taking Vit. B12 liquid, Vit. K2 and magn...

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

One thing to remember is it is sleep, not the D3, that improves many of the symptoms attributed to low Vit D levels. After attaining a level of 60 to 80 ng, it takes several additional months of restful sleep each night before changes occur. Vitamin D3 serves as the catalyst for restorative sleep. I...

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

You should up your dose while under a doctor's care. The blood levels have to be monitored periodically so you and your doctor can fine tune the levels according to what is best for you. Watch the video for details.

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

For me, the proof is in the pudding. If Dr. Gominak is having consistent success treating her patients, I believe it is worth pursuing. It is obvious, and she states flat out, that she is presenting theories. That said, if you were in her position and saw that D was making a difference in your patie...

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

Emilia: Use of the word, "Cure," was mine. (Needed to get your attention. Sorry). She says she thinks she has found the answer. If she is having as much success with her patients as she says, it sounds worth looking into, wouldn't you say? I sure as H am going to give it a try myself.

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

Sleepyb: You, too, should watch the whole video before commenting. The vitamin D levels have to be between 60 and 80 ng for several months. Do you know if that is where your levels are reading?

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

To Goof Proof: You couldn't possibly have watched the video in the space of time between when I posted and your reply. Furthermore, 4,000 IU is a drop in the bucket, as my personal physician said to me, I am taking 10,000 IU of D now and that is the amount normal amount needed by the body. As far as...

Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

Stasha Gominak MD, a neurologist practicing in Texas, reports having found a cure for sleep apnea. Yes, I said a cure. Her claim is that sleep apnea is not due to flabby tissue in the throat but to an out-of-kilter function in the brain that controls the "paralyzing" mechanism in the sleep process. ...
