Re: What;s the worst tip you ever had from CPAPTalk?
I recall a new poster last month who strongly suggested that we should seek help from God rather than a cpap to cure our OSA. I'm pretty sure he was serious too. Although I'm not the most religious person, I'm pretty sure that's terrible advice for ANYONE to follow, religious or not.

Re: Calling the insurance company tomorrow, need advice
An update to the story. I called them on Tuesday on last week and was told that they had ordered the AutoSet machine, but that they had to get "approval" from the main office before it could be shipped out. This was two weeks after they had told me that they had ordered it originally. I told them th...

Sleep study and update
I finally got a copy of my sleep study today. Thought I would post it for review and comments. Also, should there be a more in-depth report on the sleep study that I can get a copy of? I got this from the cardiologist that ordered the sleep study, not the sleep doc so if there's a better report I'll...

Re: Wife won't do sleep study
Thanks for the reply Julie. You brought up some things I hadn't even considered. It never occurred to me that 1 wouldn't be the lowest pressure. More importantly, I hadn't thought about the fact that I hate the ramp feature because at the lowest pressure I don't feel like I'm getting enough air. Pro...

Wife won't do sleep study
I'm recently diagnosed with OSA. I've been devouring all the info I can about the subject the last few weeks. This has made me realize that my wife may also have sleep apnea. She is showing many signs of it (tired often, wakes frequently, falls asleep during movies, in the car, snores, carries a few...

S9 Climate line
I will be picking up my S9 Autoset next week (and returning the S9 Escape Plus the DME stuck me with). I'm interested in getting a climate line as well to avoid any rainouts issues before they start. Is this something the DME will provide as well if I ask? Or is it not something that is covered by i...

Re: Finally Under 5.!
Congrats Kody! My money is on the pillow. I use the same pillow. I found it a couple years ago (long before I was diagnosed with OSA) and now I won't go anywhere without it. Vacation, camping, doesn't matter. I feel like I can breathe SO much better using this pillow. Obviously it didn't cure my OSA...

Re: nasal pillows....
I'm sure others who are much more experienced that me will chime in here, but in my week of using my cpap with nasal pillows I have found that the only way I can minimize leaks is to cinch up the pillows on my face tight enough that they give me somewhat of a pig nose. If I try to loosen them up so ...

Re: Calling the insurance company tomorrow, need advice
WAY TO GO!!!!! The next call from your will be to tell you how much more you will have to pay for the "upgraded" machine--but you already know how to handle that one, too! Poor DME probably doesn't know what hit him! Yep, already asked that when I called the insurance company the first time. Was to...

Re: Calling the insurance company tomorrow, need advice
Update. I called the insurance company today and was told that there are no exclusions to what cpap they cover, as long as it is obtained from an in-network provider. I then went to my DME appointment that I had originally made to swap out my mask. I have decided to stay with my mask (pillows) for a...

Re: God > CPAP
This reminds me of a joke. A religious man is on top of a roof during a great flood. A man comes by in a boat and says "get in, get in!" The religous man replies, "No, I have faith in God. He will grant me a miracle." Later the water is up to his waist and another boat comes by and the guy tells him...

Re: Calling the insurance company tomorrow, need advice
Thanks Janknitz! Having specific questions to ask will definitely help me to make sure I have my bases covered. I'll report back tomorrow how I fared. Was that your blog post that I referenced? If so I'd like to extend a huge thank you! It's great having such succinct information available when you ...

Re: La La...still awake..gotta work tomorrow
Is it because you're sleeping better or because you're fighting insomnia? I'm new to cpap and I'm also now fighting insomnia. They are unrelated as the insomnia started before the cpap, but it's still poor timing. I'm having trouble sleeping anyway, and now I'm supposed to wear this contraption and ...

Calling the insurance company tomorrow, need advice
Tomorrow I'm going to try and exchange my S9 Escape Plus for a data-capable S9 Autoset. After reading the blog post "Help, I'm stuck with a brick!" it suggests calling my insurance company first to be sure they cover ANY E0601 machine, whether it's data capable or not, CPAP or auto. My question is, ...
