Re: How do you sleep during commute or travel?
Have you found out whether there would be any place to plug it in on a bus? Whether the bus company has any policy about using Cpaps? Whether you really think you'll get much sleep on a bus - notoriously nosier than e.g. a plane? Get a seat in the back of the bus and no one will care. Just watch th...

How do you sleep during commute or travel?
Just wondering, how are you supposed to sleep during commute? I have a daily 4 hour commute (2 hour each way) via rail, and would love to sleep during that time, but I'm always afraid of distracting my fellow commuters with sleep noises. Also, I am planning on a bus ride to meet an old friend, of wh...

Re: If you open your mouth, does that count as leak?
Even if it did show a rare blip in the leak line...I wouldn't worry as long as it was not prolonged or grossly huge. Mouth leaks do show up in your leak numbers. They just may not be noticeable if they're small. Alright, thank you. I suppose if it happens occasionally, and the leak seems to be noti...

If you open your mouth, does that count as leak?
With a nasal/pillow mask, if you open your mouth, will that be registered as a mask leak? I woke up today with dry mouth, but the leak is within the mask's intended leak, and the graph looks like any other night, so wondering if it was dry because air was leaking through my mouth, or my mouth was ju...

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
And don't feel bad if you have an ugly night...Take a look at one of my recent disasters.. Yep, I was experimenting again. Ugly, ugly night. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=67883&p=631354&hilit=+when+an+experiment+is+a+bomb#p631354 Oh god, that 8/25 one where it's just going up capping,...

Re: DRY MOUTH
Seems like you're opening your mouth while you sleep, and the air is escaping out the mouth, so you're not getting your therapy at all, pretty much.
Get a chin strap to force your mouth closed, or get a full-face (nose+mouth) mask. Or, if you are a mouthbreather, get a mouth-only mask.

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
While the number may not be big, the percentage of increase is huge, right? Might as well use 10 =PPugsy wrote:My minimum is 10. When I drop to 9.5 my AHI doubles. While a 1.5 AHI double to 3 is not huge... it is still higher than I normally see.
Thank you for helping me throughout this ordeal =).

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
Of course this is one night and we have variations from night to night anyway. Reducing the minimum may not severely impact the obstructive component yet. We don't know where that line is yet. Reduced to 11, and the results are better than ever, it looks like: http://i55.tinypic.com/1g38nk.png Ever...

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
Are you basing this on the daily events numbers graph at the bottom of the report? I would reduce the minimum to 11..see how the obstructive component does. Also once we get these pressures to where we like them I would suggest trying straight cpap. APAP pressure swings upwards may not be the best ...

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
My OSA is much worse in REM sleep and I got maybe 6 minutes of REM out of that 156 minutes. It's no wonder they didn't get my pressure right but in my case I had to increase the pressure.. Did you have to go in for another sleep study, or pretty much doing it at home like I am? o.O And here are las...

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
It's hard to compute an AHI (hourly index) when one only has a fraction of an hour to compute from so they extrapolate. ... Looks to me like you are going to have to do a bit of self titrating. Not hard to do and you will quickly see what works and what does not work. For sure reduce minimum to 12 ...

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
Hell, I could guess a pressure for you! What did he get paid for that? lol my co-pay is $20, so at least $20? =P Seriously though, the results from the second sleep study (one with CPAP) is terrible, less than 10 minutes of sleep for pressures above 10 (the most was 234.5 minutes of sleep at a pres...

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
I see. Alright, thank you very much, pugsy and robysue. I'll try reducing it down to 12 tonight, and see if the numbers are any better. If I encounter any unknowns, I'll post here again =P.

Re: Can someone interpret these results?
Way too many centrals and pretty much nothing else. Did you have centrals in your sleep studies? No central apneas during sleep study: 368 obstructive apneas, 11 mixed apneas, 0 central apneas, and 30 hypopneas, represent an AHI of 87.8 (severely elevated). In addition, there were 75 RERAs resultin...
