Re: newly diagnosed - my story
I called the clinic yesterday, and I was contacted by them this morning. They had to go to my doctor and request the doctor change (why they would go to her and not one of the directors or someone who handles such things I don't know). She's ging to meet with me on Tuesday for the results of the st...

Re: Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
Cnew, I think you'd be wise to hold off on the clomazepam as you said. From my research it appears: Clomazepam is fast acting, has a long half-life, most likely addicting, is highly sedating, but inhibits deep or slow wave restorative sleep. Depression seems to be a possible side effect of longer t...

Re: Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
The decision whether to use pharmacologic sleep aids is highly individual. That said, clonazepam isn't the best choice, IMO. For trouble initiating sleep, The z-drugs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z_drugs are more effective and safer. I don't have any problem getting to sleep. For trouble maintainin...

Re: Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
I don't like the idea of being on another drug anyway, and to tell the truth, the doc was kind of on the fence about it, too. So, I think I may hold off on it, especially since it didn't seem to help me last night. In fact, I woke up earlier and in a worse mood!jules wrote:clomazepam is highly addictive

Re: Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
There hardly are any event seen in the chart. But, a SAD leads to depression. And a depression is one of the underlying medical conditions to screw up data for any CPAP and even nullify its treatment (if needed). IMO, your best bet would be to put the damn CPAP aside and treat your SAD and depressi...

Re: Good experience with Delta, using CPAP on flight
I've been using my machine for years and I like it. I don't really think about it anymore and just take it for granted. Delta has been offering "Economy Comfort" seating. Not only does this give you more leg room, but it also gives you a power outlet (on most seats, there are ways to check which se...

Re: Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
Hi Cnew, It isn't uncommon to have a really good start and then have problems arise. Just remember that this is a long term effort anlittle set-backs can be expected. I know. I'm in it for the long haul, but I so wanted it to be an overnight miracle. Damn! I like the crying in the lobby maneuver. I...

Re: Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
Your minimum is 5? Max 10.5? I cannot see the pressure line on this image.. too faint I guess. I don't know why the pressure and leak lines are so faint. I will have to look into that. My pressure settings are 5/15, and the pressure line is fairly level around 8 or 9 for most of the night. Last nig...

Re: Boil & Bite mouthpiece reduced AHI/press requirement
I think another secret to my success is my home-made chin strap which actually holds my chin up. The PapCap, the Ultimate Chin Strap, and all the others I have tried did not work for me. I'm on my third chin strap right now. Could you describe your home-made one? BTW, I love your dog, and I'm sure ...

Nan, where do you buy this mouthguard?nanwilson wrote:Liz
Just buy a cheap $5 mouthguard and follow the directions to mold it to your mouth. I bought a clear one, youth size, did the boil and bite thingy, and it works. If it works for you great, if it doesn't....your only out $5 .

Robysue is one of our forum members who has the best input for staying asleep problems and she also uses the light therapy. Hopefully she will see this post and offer her ideas. She usually will especially with a topic like sleep disturbances. Thank you, Pugsy, I was hoping you would look at my gra...

Re: Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
I just started light therapy this morning. It has been effective in the past. I don't take melatonin and don't fancy adding another drug to the cocktail I already take. It's not a matter of sunny days vs cloudy days or how long one is outside. We've been having sunny days here, and I do get outside....

Help please: Sleep disturbances, clomazepam and SAD
I've been using APAP for a month and a half now. When I first started out, I was having some pretty good nights of AHI<5 and feeling good in the morning. Then, as my treatment progressed (and I have been 100% compliant), I started being bothered by early morning disturbances, leaks, feeling less res...

Re: CPAP use on overnight flights
I'm planning a trip to Italy over the holidays, and am reading this thread with interest. I hadn't planned to try to use my CPAP it in flight, and am reassured to know that sleeping upright may help mitigate apneas. What I am wondering about is getting to carry it onboard uncounted as my allowed car...

Re: Emerging...
I agree -- you have a wonderful boss! My doctor didn't resist, but I had to bring the matter to her and make the case for why I had decided a sleep study was in order. She was treating me for depression, she could see I was overweight, I had reported feeling tired, for which she checked my thyroid. ...
