Re: OT "Mike & Molly" - cpap on tv
In the series "Men of a certain age", one of the characters (don't know his name, never actually seen the show) wears an xpap to bed.

"Calibrate"?
Hello guys. Please indulge me with one more answer: Can anyone tell me what the "Calibrate" option on the clinical menu of the resmed "S" series do? (I'm assuming the cinical menu is similar on all S series). Mine is set at 1.13, and is the only option I don't understand what's for. Any insight woul...

"Resistance" to CPAP therapy over time?
Hi guys. You know how sometimes the body gets used to a substance after a while so that you need more of the same medicine to get the same result than when you started treatment? Im wondering if the same happens with CPAP therapy so that the preassure originally prescribed can become ineffective aft...

Re: Chin strap use
I put my Chin Strap on second, over the straps of my Respironics SoftGel Mask. The Chin Strap does help to reduce any air leaks, although I did not have any major leaks before. I'm sorry for deviating from topic, but how do you know that you don't have any major leaks if your device doesn't record ...

Re: Chin strap use
I was told to put the chinstrap first, but I have actually found that putting it over the mask helps secure it in place a bit more, so I (at least in theory, I have no data capabilities) have less air leakage to worry about.

Re: My first good night since starting therapy
I can definitely get a valid prescription from a vallid non-us doctor, so its great to hear that some sites will honor it.
My last question for you guys (for now ) is:
If I get an equipment from an online source: who does its maintenance/service or who fixes it if it breaks?

Re: My first good night since starting therapy
First of all, Pugsy, thank you for that. It was exactly what I needed to hear (read?) right now. I have a question: I go to the US once a year for vacations. Lets say by then I save for a better machine and can get it send to wherever I'm staying: Would I be able to purchase one without a prescripti...

Re: My first good night since starting therapy
LOL Its true my machine doesn't measure stats, but its my own fault as I couldn't afford a more complex one. We don't have health insurance as understood in the US and I had to pay for everything, studies and all, from out of pocket. For now I'm stuck with it, until I switch jobs or win the lotery I...

My first good night since starting therapy
Hi guys.
I slept fine for the first time since I started my CPAP therapy about a month ago. For the first time since I can remember, I felt refreshed in the morning.
The problem is, I don't know what (if anything) I did differently, so I wouldn't know how to have the same experience tonight.

Something to spend a few minutes on
Hello all.
I stumbled upon something interesting that's worth spending a few mins on.
I am not afiliated with the author or anything like that, but since it pertains something it involves us all (S-l-e-e-p!), I thought I'd share:

Re: Sleep aid & Apap?
Hi. I'm a total newb coming to this forum for first time advice, so please take the following with a grain of salt, but my doctor did specifically told me sleep aids are counter-indicated for someone with OSA because they relax your muscles and make your airway more prone to colapse, therefore creat...

Re: Newbie here with anxiety problem
Thank you once more for the informative and useful replies. The machine that did the clinical test to determine the pressure I needed (I believe its called "titleing" or something like that) was an apap elite II S9 and I had to rent it for a few days, but the price to buy it would have been almost d...

Re: Newbie here with anxiety problem
What you are telling me is a real bummer. I knew it was a very basic model, but obsolete to boot? I'm south of the border, and we don't have much choice of models. This was the only model I was offered that doesn't have features I don't need like bilevel or autoset. Besides I don't have health insur...

Re: Newbie here with anxiety problem
Thank you all for your replies and answers.
Having read them, I will definitelly be patient and give it more time. Also, I will try to be less aprehensive about leaks. The only way I have of meassure them is subjectivelly, however, as my device does not measure or stores data beyond usage time.

Re: Newbie here with anxiety problem
Thank you very much for your reply. I have done as you suggested. My doctor specifically told me not to use a full face mask. She said that, in my particular case, doing so would incite the bad habit of me sleeping with my mouth open. She said to use a chinstrap instead, which I don't find unconfort...
