My dental hygienist recommended Biotene. Its a protein-enzyme mouth spray found in the mouth wash isle. It's working pretty well for me.

I have the same problem of holding my breath while awake. I thought it was just me - I mentioned it to my GP and she made no connection to the sleep apnea. Guess they can't know everything!
