Re: DeVilbiss Users - New Software Update
The new version lays out the data in a more user friendly format and the AHI graph makes a great deal more sense now. All in all a good update and doesn't take long to download and install. Worth it for anyone who hasn't used it in a while.

Re: One month in and AHI Average of 9.9
Thanks to the adjustments suggested and ones that I made to response parameters, I'm happy to say that my AHI has been below 5 for the last three nights and last night was 2.5! I can only hope it will stay this way. I have a follow-up with my sleep doc next week and will review everything with him, ...

Re: One month in and AHI Average of 9.9
Thanks for the insight, especially into leaks. I downloaded the Swift FX manual and a standard vent leak at my pressure setting would be above 40 l/min http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff364/dougloftus/CPAP%20Stuff/ScreenShot2011-10-07at112744AM.png I'll raise the lower pressure up to 16cm. I als...

Re: One month in and AHI Average of 9.9
Once again Emilia, thank you.... Here's last night's report - I k now I tend to to have lots of Hypopneas as I'm falling asleep... My prescription is for 17cm of pressure. I've set the lower to 15 and let the upper hit 20 http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff364/dougloftus/CPAP%20Stuff/page_1.jpg h...

One month in and AHI Average of 9.9
I'm one month in to using my machine and I have to admit I do feel much better. I know that should be the real gauge of success and not numbers. But, my AHI is 9.9 (down from 69 during my sleep study). Apneas have almost completely disappeared, but hypopneas are obviously up there. As I said, I know...

Re: Good questions for new Doctor
I'm new to this myself but the questions I asked my doctor were: How well did I respond to xPAP? Besides xPAP, do I have any surgical or non-invasive options? What machine type (APAP, CPAP, etc...) is best for me and why? Just a few to start with, but you need to ask every question that comes into y...

Re: WOW....nasal pillows rock!
I have the Swift FX as well and it fits great! If the gas is bad you could try some Gas-X (Simethicone). It helps to break up the bloating faster.but this gas is BAD...i bend over when i walk! It usually lasts like 2 hours then im okay after a lot of good farts.

Newbie requests assistance in reading leaks on report
I'm a newbie (6 days so far and with success) and I've reviewed the forum and I still cannot get my head wrapped around leaks. What's normal and what isn't? What's the difference between an exhale puff and a leak. Doesn't a puff come from your mouth and a leak is when the mask is ill-fitting and air...

Re: This ever happen to you?
I have exactly the same issue you do. I have my most hypopneas falling asleep or falling back asleep. You can see that in my report. Apneas have almost all but disappeared but the hypops are there. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff364/dougloftus/CPAP%20Stuff/sep09.jpg I'm going to discuss with ...

Intellipap Data Question
Been using my Intellipap Auto for 5 days now with success. Due to another health issue I almost always have to get up during the night. When I get up I don't want to disturb my partner by leaving the CPAP running with the mask off. Question is if I turn off the machine and then turn it back on a few...

Re: Is it important to meet with a Respiratory Therapist/DME?
I finally heard from the out-of-network DME who tells me over the phone that the machine they would supply me would be a Remstar. I asked how did they come to the conclusion that would be the best machine for me. Silence on the line from the DME Rep.... I said I needed to speak with an RT to go over...

Re: Is it important to meet with a Respiratory Therapist/DME?
I've had my sleep study (severe apnea diagnosis with a setting of 17cm indicated) and have my prescription in hand. One would think that in a city the size of Los Angeles that there would be a large selection of DMEs but not so - hence my considering ordering from online.

Is it important to meet with a Respiratory Therapist/DME?
Thanks for this site - it's been invaluable to me being newly diagnosed. I'm wondering how important is it to meet with a RT at a DME? I'm waiting for insurance verification and then to get an appointment. In the meantime, I could have ordered a machine and gear from online for most likely less cost...
