Re: PR REMstar Pro cellular modem/SD card question
No, it won't disrupt the monitoring. The cellular modem "phones home" periodically sending the data that it has since the last time it sent. It doesn't connect continually. You can power down (remove the plug) your CPAP machine, then remove the modem and the SD card. I do that often with my machine,...

Re: New CPAP machine occasionally whistles
I had the same problem with my PR System One. Turns out something (a paper or a card) had moved close to the filter intake/exhaust on the back. I shifted the machine a little and the whistling stopped.
So maybe fiddling with the machine, or the filters may make it go away.

Re: Puff 'n' Suck Phenomenon
Regarding the pressure pulse; my machine will do that to me if I wait too long to start inhaling the next breath. Sometimes I am relaxing and still awake, and I notice a longer than normal pause after my exhale. The machine will do a pulse which I suppose is the start of detecting if I am having an ...

Re: Deep Cycle Home Backup Supply
Great post! This is almost exactly what I have, except my battery box has built-in voltage indicator and cigarette lighter sockets: http://www.amazon.com/MinnKota-Trolling-Motor-Power-Center/dp/B001PTHKMG/ A little more expensive, but worth it for the extra bells and whistles. I would change one thi...

Re: WOW! MY DME IS A CROOKED LYING SACK OF SH*#!!!
When I first learned I would be on xPAP I discovered this forum. I scoured it reading every post I could. Most were about DME horror stories. I was all prepared to have a big fight with the DME, but the rep came in and first off asked if I had any questions or more importantly, any expectations. I t...

Re: Hose leak!
eBay and/or CraigsList are also possible sources for inexpensive hoses. It's easy to see that they are still factory sealed.

Re: Most Comfortable Pillow (for sleeping)????
I love my buckwheat husk / Sobakawa pillow! I can't get to sleep unless it's on my side, although I will wake up on my back. I thought the buckwheat pillow would be hard. In fact, the pillow is moldable like play-dough, and stays in the basic position where I punch it up. I too had the problem with ...

Re: Pillow Recommendations
I second the recommendation on the buckwheat hull pillows. I have one, and absolutely love it. Before CPAP I used to sleep with a pillow under my head and another one (a thin one) on top covering my eyes. Can't use the top pillow any more with CPAP. Anyway, I just use the buckwheat hull pillow under...

Re: New Guy here, feeling thrown to the wolves..
Hi, I've been on Auto CPAP since August and am still using the default range of 4 to 10. The 90% range is around 9-10. If the machine can figure out what you need, why would you ever need to tighten up or adjust the range? I find starting out at night at the low end (which is the default I think) ve...

Re: Bed Pillows
I'll say "ditto" to JoinPain's post - I bought this from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037NX61M Before, I had problems with the regular bed pillow interfering with the hose, not supporting my head, etc. Now with the buckwheat hull pillow, I can "mold" it to whatever shape I need, and it...

Wow! What an aggravating night!
I'm coming up on my one-month CPAP anniversary, and so far haven't had too many issues. Last night was the exception - I felt like I had a nose hair which was tickling my nostril and it was waking me up many times in the night. I'd pull the mask up, and rip out some more nose hairs (part of getting ...

Re: Newbie; good DME experience
Tell us more about the home sleep test. Did they wire you up and send you home, or give you a box of stuff? They sent me a well-put-together kit for the Philips Alice PDx home test system. I wired myself up. They had an instructional DVD that I watched beforehand, and I found a youtube video of it ...

Re: Newbie; good DME experience
Sounds like your "8" number is your pressure prescription. From what the technician said, the 8 referred to the number of apnea events in an hour - does that make sense? (it was acually 7.9, but she rounded it) I checked my machine this morning and it said that the 90% pressure it used was 6 cm H20...

System One REMstar Auto CPAP - direct connect to 12V batt?
I received a PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with A-Flex machine from my DME, and saw that I can buy a 12 Volt DC Power Cord for it. My question - is this just a direct connection to the battery, or does it have some kind of voltage regulation built in? Looking at the (small) picture, I didn...
