Re: Help! How to survive a "bad apnea" night

Hi Julie. Weight gain is definitely not an issue here. Thanks for the info BlackSpinner. I've had a look at my data and it's all very confusing. It's looking like leaks might be part of the problem so I'll adjust the mask tonight. I wonder why the 'average' apneas is more important than the peak apn...

Re: Help! How to survive a "bad apnea" night

Hi Pugsy, I haven't check the number (because my baby boy is asleep next to it) but I know it has full data because I've had someone download it before. The machine itself is indicating no large leaks but I'll download that software and see whats going on (once my son is up for a feed). Thanks for t...

Re: Help! How to survive a "bad apnea" night

Thanks Kaiasgram. I had no idea about the progesterone! thank you. I only have to wake once in the middle of the night and then am woken in the morning. I get one night off a week where I don't have to feed him at all so that's good. Doesn't mean a good nights sleep unfortunately. My husband has bee...

Re: Help! How to survive a "bad apnea" night

I have a respironics Remstar pro+ Cflex.

I don't really want to play with the pressure without discussing it with a dr first as i don't know the risks of putting it too high. I was really hoping to find a way to cope with the fatigue until i see her.

Help! How to survive a "bad apnea" night

Hi, I have used CPAP for a year now, but during times of high stress it doesn't seem to work for me anymore. I've booked in to see a new sleep specialist but it's still a month away. I've just had a baby and have a 2yo so i need my energy. I'm hoping someone will have some tips on how to survive the...

Re: So Many Questions...

Thanks Pugsy and chunkyfog (aka Grandma frog? lol).

I will try to remember to pop on here to let you know when there's news, Grandma Frog I'm hoping that being treated will prevent the next one from being premature too but only time will tell.

I'll work on trying to keep stress at bay.

Re: So Many Questions...

Yes, I'm not sure I have my machine right so will look into that - thanks. What you suggest Pugsy sounds like the one I have. Clearly I'm not great and finding the right info. lol I don't actually have the software myself sorry. I didn't know I could get it. Perhaps I will enquire on that, thanks. T...

Re: Memory and mental sharpness

It took a few weeks for my mental sharpness and memory to improve but it's still not as good as I'd like. I wonder if permanent damage is done in this region? I'm not sure but the improvement for me there was slight. I'm pleased to hear that it has helped your depression. I read an article that sugg...

Re: So Many Questions...

Elle,

I think we all have concentration problems that stem from our sleep disorder. No need to apologise.

Re: So Many Questions...

Elle, It appears you have misunderstood me. I sleep between 7-10 hours a night without waking. I have no problem with the machine, my mask or restless nights. My issue is with having nights that result in days of feeling like I need to go back to bed all day. These relate to the days where my apnea ...

So Many Questions...

Hi Everyone, Can someone help me answer any of the following questions regarding the management of OSA and hypopnea? 1. Does stress play a part in how bad a given night is? If so, what do you do to keep stress levels down? 2. Does pregnancy make them worse? Should I see my sleep doctor if I get preg...

Re: Mask fitting

I recommend the Respironics EasyLite nasal mask. It's designed to avoid leaks and marks on the face. Resmed do a similar one but i don't know the name - I didn't like theirs cos the mask went up and down as i breathed - very off putting. As for acne, the reason you would be getting acne is due to oi...

Re: Hello everyone! New guy here!!

Hi BamaBoy, I was using the exact same combo as you but have just changed masks. I was getting sore on the bridge of my nose so I changed my mask (i just spoke to the sleep clinic and they changed it). I am now using the Easylite mask (also respironics) and it's much more gentle and less likely to l...
