Moustache & Face Mask Question
I have a bushy moustache that goes down the side of my face past my jaw(almost like a thick Fu Man Chu and was thinking of trying a face mask(my dog chewed up my Swift nasal pillows assembly last night. I am looking at the Fisher/Paykel Forma-any comments-or with a large mustache is the nasal pillow...

Re: Newbie Question
LARGRA, Welcome to the board. Since others have suggested a better designed pillows mask, I won't add anything. But you also say: I also have an allergy problem which keeps me stuffy nosed a fair bit of time. Getting ahead of the allergies will be critical for adjusting to CPAP. Some folks find bre...

Re: Newbie Question
I have been having a problem with the pillows being dislodged and waking me up-should I think about a mask? or I turn on my side and dislodge them.(I have a thick 25 year old mustache- we have become good friends) I also have an allergy problem which keeps me stuffy nosed a fair bit of time. Any su...

Re: Bought New Machine
When you get your machine from a DME provider, there are other things that factor into the cost of the machine. First of all, a DME provider must have a Respiratory Therapist deliver and set-up your machine. After that, any problems you have with the machine are handled by the DME provider, which s...

Re: Bought New Machine
LARGRA, I hope that the machine shown in your profile is the old machine and not your new machine. The PLUS model shown only records compliance data. I have the System One Remstar Pro with heated humidifier-It is the same as I had on trial so I just have to get the card reader(when my software arri...

Re: Bought New Machine
You did the right thing Largra. This disease is not rocket science, and when you have a data capable machine YOU are your best therapist. I'm sure you have read all of the info on this forum, if not, educate yourself, and if you have questions.......just ask. Cheers Nan Thank You-I'm sure I will ha...

Re: Bought New Machine
I have bought all my machines privately. Out of pocket costs maybe a wash on the first one but hugely less on the last 2. Plus I got exactly what I wanted, when I wanted it and without any hassle. While in a perfect world it would be nice if the DMEs were so very helpful it would be worth the fees ...

Bought New Machine
I took the advice of a forum member and bought a CPAP machine from Clinical Sleep Solutions in British Columbia. They were $1400.00 cheaper for the exact same machine I was on a trial with. I took the DME's machine back and they tryed the oh we have a payment plan, well we'll have to contact the doc...

Re: New CPAP User & Machine
I can only sleep on my back to avoid CA's, but fortunately do not have OA's at my pressures. Others will weigh in but I think I have read of nasal pillows being used in the 15-25 cm-H2O range of pressures successfully. Its typical for the DME to mark up the on-line price by 50%. My DME wants $8750 ...

Re: Very New User Question
What was your diagnosis? How severe is your sleep apnea? CPAP therapy is not just about getting a good nights sleep, it's about being able to breathe again at night. While you may still feel sleepy, it is likely you are breathing with the machine. As long as you are breathing again, you have stoppe...

Re: New CPAP User & Machine
My service provider wants $2400.00 plus hoses & masks and my insurance MAY cover 80% up to a $1000, so I am certainly debating which way to go. If the maximum amount that your insurer will pay is 80% to a maximum of $1000.00 I would definitely look elsewhere for the machine. You can purchase the ma...
