Re: Accuracy of S9 Autoset statistics?

One more thing... As far as your leak question... A high leak will be recorded anytime the mask either gets dislodged, taken off, etc and left to run. I wouldn't be concerned with the maximum leak. When they do a download of your data the clinicians will be looking at either the "95th percentile" a...

I am feeling light headed for several hours after waking up for sure. Trying to be patient since my body is probably pretty confused about what the CPAP is doing to it all night long.

Re: AHI increased when taping my mouth shut. Confused.

Your experiment was only for last night???? Give it a few days or even a week, last night may have been a bad night for some other reason. Leaky pillows, dog barking next door, too hot, too cold.............whatever....btw the dog barking was next door to me last night ggggrrrrrr. Yep. I have only ...

According to my software all my apneas that show up since I started treatment have been centrals but my doctor says I have OSA. This is something I plan to speak with him about when I see him next week.

AHI increased when taping my mouth shut. Confused.

I taped my mouth shut to prevent mouth breathing thinking it would lower my AHI but instead it raised my #s. My AHI was coming in between 6.5 - 8.5 but went to 10.8 last night. Wondering if I should not tape my mouth and allow mouth breathing given the results of my experiment? And not surprising I ...

Re: Nasal pillows only leak in the morning

Do the pillows get 'tired' and loose their 'spring' towards morning ? Is this typical behavior that I should just get used to ? Jerry (CPAP user for 3 weeks) I have been using the LT for about 5 nights so far. On my back and left side I don't experience leakage. When I try to sleep on my right side...

Re: So AHI has been about 8 using Resmed S9 on APAP

Now can someone explain why the dang machine isn't just bringing me down to an AHI of ZERO The simple reason is because that is not the intended purpose of xPAP treatment. As John noted above, the purpose is to bring your nightly AHI score below ~5, not to 0 Cheers, Bill Understood. I guess I am na...

Re: So AHI has been about 8 using Resmed S9 on APAP

But the point is that you are getting used to the therapy and your current unit is homing in on the most effective pressure. That's a good approach, since the pressure needs during the test are often different when you get home. Almost all of us sleep lighter during the sleep study. Thus, our press...

So AHI has been about 8 using Resmed S9 on APAP

for 4 nights now, which is how long I have been on treatment. I had an AHI of 18 on the sleep lab. Now can someone explain why the dang machine isn't just bringing me down to an AHI of ZERO rather than just telling me I am still having 8 interruptions an hour?? My doctor wants me on APAP until my fo...

Re: Looking for sites where sleep techs hangout

I also suspect a lot of sleep centers recruit just anyone they can to run sleep studies, give them just enough training to pass certification and sit back and cash the checks. You should read some of the complaints on binarysleep about unqualified technicians. Actual schooling and testing requireme...

Re: Accuracy of S9 Autoset statistics?

Don't panic about numbers, unless they're really high. Use them as a warning that further investigation is necessary. Thanks archangle this is very good advice. I can see how tracking these #s too closely could give me an unneeded panic attack! If I notice a difference and improvement in how I feel...

Re: Accuracy of S9 Autoset statistics?

It is a bit hard to see but it looks like those groupings with the centrals are associated with breaks in the scoring. In other words wakeups. Then you put the mask back on and have some more groups and these could be sleep onset events or even toss and turn arousal. The machine doesn't know if you...

Ok Pugsy I figured out how to get the reports on here from last night. They look small on my screen I hope you can enlarge them with the magnifying tool. Thanks for taking the time to look at these. http://s1124.photobucket.com/albums/l576/soundersfootballclub/?action=view¤t=1.jpg#!oZZ1QQcurre...

Re: Night 3 - rough start

I couldn't get the nasal pillows adjusted to actually blow up my nose and on top of that my nose was partially stopped up. ended up taking an anti-histamine and finally go the angle right on the mask. Once I fell asleep, I did OK for the rest of the night. Any tips on setting the angle of the nasal...

Re: Yesterday I had RF somnoplasty + turbinate reduction

Catherine I had turbinate reduction done last October. I found it cleared up alot of my nasal congestion during the day at least and was a positive procedure with no side effects. This was b4 I was diagnosed with OSA. My ENT and sleep doc didn't seem to think doing this procedure on my palate would ...
