Re: Highest AHI,Longest Apnea,Lowest Desat
Just diagnosed, I had an AHI of 179, and a low Sat of 79%. I don't know how long my episodes were (Couldn't have been that long, there isn't enough minutes in an hour.) The doctor who gave me my results said I "won the prize" of most episodes in 2011 for his clinic. You beat me on AHI: My AHI was 1...

Re: High pressure + facial hair = which mask?
I have met my out of pocket max for the year (one sleep study + machines does that quick) so I want to let insurance pay for the next mask, which means local. I should get a 30 day trial with whatever I choose, but it is a hassle to have to go back and forth. Have you looked at the "SleepWeaver Adva...

High pressure + facial hair = which mask?
Time for my insurance to buy me a new mask. I have been using the "ComfortGel Blue Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear" which is my original and only mask I have tried at home (used some different ones during sleep study). My machine is set at 15 / 11 so nasal pillows are out of the question, I think. I g...

Re: scared to death
Low O2 can cause a headache. Apnea episodes can cause your heart to race / strain your heart. I got lucky and the doc ordered a split study for me. As soon as they determined I did have apnea they started trying to find the right pressures to prevent it. I was also badly desaturated so they had to g...

Re: Unexplained shut down of ResMed S9
Err, I'm not suggesting this is happening with you, but in my case, I believe that I've learned how to turn it off in my sleep. It's rather frustrating, but I think that when it's leaking, I can turn it off and roll over, sometimes without removing the mask! Good point, I can do that sometimes with...

Re: 1st Weekend, semi success
My machine beeps when I have a bad leak, so i pull off the mark it would set that off (and make a loud air rush sound). I just turn it off and back on. Like apneawho I have found my nightly pottty breaks have decreased in frequency and urgency since starting PAP (1 1/2 weeks now). Most dreams occur ...

Re: Second diagnostic sleep study - confused
I wish I remembered better, but I thought I read an article online somewhere that some sleep study folk are starting to have at-home sleep studies. I really don't know how that works, but you have to think that you'd get a better result if you were sleeping in your own bed, in your own environment,...

Re: Unexplained shut down of ResMed S9
my guess is that she has a very large leak which makes the machine shut off because it cant sense any backpressure from her breathing efforts. My S9 beeps when the leak is large, which makes me up (or wakes up my wife who wakes me up) so I can fix it. Looks like this is an option in the clinician's...

Re: newbie pressure 20 and having leaks in nasal pillows
A pulmonologist told me she does not like to use nasal pillows for pressures higher than about 12. I was told the same thing. During my sleep study I started out with pillow but had to switch to a mark once the pressure got pretty high. Note that during the study they used CPAP (C = constant), my m...

Re: Power down to remove SD card on S9?
Any thoughts on when the S9 writes to the SD card and how long it writes after completing treatment. That would seem easy to test. Just make sure the clock on the S9 is set correctly, then note the time you turn it off. Then when you have the SD card in your PC browse the contents and see what the ...

Re: Power down to remove SD card on S9?
I have just been pulling the card out and putting it back with the S9 plugged in, seems to work fine. That said, the clinician's manual does say to unplug it first. Note that if you follow the directions in the manual exactly, they never said to plug it back in and in fact the insert card instructio...

Re: Measuring oxygen overnight as a correlate to OSA?
What's your opinion about whether or how accurately a recording pulse ox can indicate the presence of something that actually needs to be treated? Would you trust that not having low desat's, coupled with a sense of rested sleep and overall well-being for the most part, makes my situation less dire...

A reason to buy a Zeo?
My AHI for last night showed a ramp up in events just about every hour. Any way to attach a file here?

Re: CPAP Machine List ?
Last night was a lot better, both for leaks and sleep. The first 3 hours were 0 events (yea!) until an obstructive woke me up. My 5.2 AHI for the night was the lowest yet! 7/24/2011 - 7/24/2011 Device Settings Therapy Mode: SPONT Expiration Pressure: 11.0 cmH2O Inspiration Pressure: 15.0 cmH2O Easy-...
