Re: My bad news...
Wow! That is a lot of stuff to deal with! How smart you are to have your son tested and get his treatment going early. My heart goes out to you! I have read many of your posts and learned so much from them. Your family is lucky to have you. I wish the best ahead. Can I ask a couple of questions? (I ...

Re: How does tongue position stop aerophagia?
Thanks for your reply, nanwilson. I am going to keep practicing! After reading: 1. more past posts on the topic of aerophagia 2. info in the CPAP Wiki section 3. the article http://www.sleepreviewmag.com/issues/articles/2010-10_02.asp 4. and even listening to Dr. Park's Expert Interview: Dr. Christi...

How does tongue position stop aerophagia?
This was from another thread, as an aerophagia sufferer I would love to understand this better! (BTW, I am not a mouth breather, I use a nasal mask, and my aerophagia seems to come and go without reason.) Here was the tip noted in the other thread: try training yourself to sleep with your tongue on ...

Re: Breathe Heavy, Cant fall asleep
I agree with the others: 1) Get checked by an ENT to evaluate the nasal congestion. It is interesting, to me, that it is just one side continuously blocked. Could you have a deviated septum? The ENT can give you tips on clearing the congestion if it is just mucous. 2) Keep using the full face mask. ...

Re: A couple of quick newbie questions
Under-where?!? Sorry, I couldn't resist. I live with a 5 year old boy. You know, just saying the word "underwear" sends him into hysterics.
Glad you had a better night! And as Jimmy says, "If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane!"
Stay cool

Re: A couple of quick newbie questions
I'm a newbie to the forum and have lots to learn, but I really think it is the heat that is giving you problems. We were in an un-airconditioned cottage at the beach in DE for the week 4th of July this year. Fourth year in the rental, but the first time with my CPAP. I have always been able to "slee...

Re: POLL: How long do you think you had SA before you 'knew'?
(New to forum, but using CPAP a year. You guys are so full of info and it is helping me so much. The CPAP Wiki is awesome!) Is it possible to have had it all my life? I remember my mother taking me to the pediatrician when I was in elementary school because she thought there was something seriously ...

Re: Still need some help...
Thanks again for the suggestions! Robysue and Pugsy, you are quite right! Sleepiness is a listed side effect, why wouldn't it be for me?! I did more investigating and found an article about the effect of Effexor on sleep architecture and found it interesting. The abstract summarizes: The purpose was...

Re: Still need some help...
Thanks! I did try taking it at a different time of day - I forgot to mention that. I was first instructed to take it in the mornings because it can be "activating" so in May I took it at 6 in the evening as a test. There was absolutely no difference in the afternoon sleepiness, but it still could be...

Still need some help...
Is this as good as it gets? Or should I see another doctor? Any recommendations will be helpful! I am a 42 year old mother of two (5 year old boy and 3 year old girl.) I was diagnosed with MOD OSA last summer and I have been using my BiPAP for almost a year now. I won't go into all the details, but ...
