Re: How Much Did Your Sleep Study Cost?

I have never been a fan of my insurance benefits (Cigna) but this was the only time I was happy about the experience. Between the initial sleep consultation, the actually sleep study, and the followup interpretation of results, it was about ~$2,500. I paid $187 out of pocket. ($40 copay for the two ...

Re: Testing my poverty appliance with a ghetto sleep study

I had a custom upper mouth splint made from my dentist a while back. I also had a lower one made during the day. I abandoned that treatment and those appliances and got with a neuromuscular dentist and he made me a lower 24/7 appliance which I've worn for 9 months. I had the same thoughts as you...a...

Re: Can't Breathe Out

I don't think that the EPAP pressure is the problem. This happens both when using the cpap and not using it.
Plus, I do have the BiPap on so the EPAP is as low as 4 a lot so I barely even feel it when I exhale.

I have had a sleep study. And the abnormal breathing I mentioned is while using CPAP. (auto bipap to be more precise)

Can't Breathe Out

When I lay down to sleep and try to relax completely, my airway feels like it almost seals shut but when I inhale I don't have too much of a problem, it's when I exhale that it is so narrow and I feel like I can't breathe out. I always thought that sleep apnea was having trouble taking IN air, rathe...

Re: Metabolic Blood Panel

Thank you for the links.
I realize that most are barely outside of the range, but when you calculate the BUN/Creatinine ratio, I would say it is significantly outside of the normal range. That is the only one that really raises a flag for me.

Metabolic Blood Panel

My employer had a 'wellness assessment' free of charge that included some blood labs for those interested at no cost. I participated and everything was in the normal range except a few things in the metabolic panel. BUN was high at 22 (normal ceiling is 20) Creatinine was low at .45 (.76 is normal f...

Help Self-Titrating Autopap

Does anyone have a 'tutorial' on how to self-titrate their autopap machine if they were never formally titrated? I have the software to review my data and do so every night. I have about 20 days worth of data in a row that I can review in order to determine the correct pressure settings. I would lik...

Re: Humidifier Repair?

Thank you for the response. I have done all of these things. Since I bought my CPAP and humidifier off the black market (cpap new, humidifier used and did not come with water tank) I can't exactly send it back to my provider. Was wondering if anyone had any idea on how to fix these. Like I said, I c...

Humidifier Repair?

When I turn on my CPAP, the humidifer LED blinks for about 10 minutes and then finally goes away. When I wake up in the morning, my throat is not really dry, but I don't think that they humidifier is working because the water level BARELY (maybe not at all) changes. I have taken it apart and it is e...

Re: OT: Reporting from the TMJ wars

Good luck. I wear a lower TMJ orthotic that brings my jaw further forward as well. I have been wearing it 24/7 for the last 7 months, taking it out only to brush it and my teeth. I have been relieved of 'almost' all of my pain from it, but still suffer from sleeping issues which includes massive cle...

Re: Mask for A Stomach sleeper? http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?p=421852#p421852 That thread has a post by Julie written in Nov 21, 2009, describing a trench she had cut in a thick piece of memory foam. The trench accomodates a mask while lying on one's stomach, face down. The person that pos...
