Re: Insurance company stopped covering CPAP rental!
I have BCBS as well and was told by them that they only pay to rent a machine for 10 months every 3 years. At the end of the rental period you can either return the unit or pay for it out of pocket. They do not have an agreement with DMEs that after the 10 month rental period that the unit is yours....

Re: My DME Horror Story
Go to a doctor, any doctor - not necessarily your sleep doc - and have the Rx rewritten EXACTLY for what you want. In my case I went to my PCP and he rewrote the script for me. Have the Rx state that it is for the Resmed S9 Elite and also on the script have it read "acesss to AHI, AI, leak, & pressu...

Interpreting Data
Hi all. I got my generic ACR38 card reader today and hooked it up. I downloaded my data into Rescan 3.14. Now I have no clue what I'm looking at or what it all means. I see a lot of apnea and hypopnea events. Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to read this data?
Thanks!

Re: New Member - Looking for the TRUTH!
I was able to find the generic ACR-38 card reader that will work with rescan and ordered it this morning for $40 shipped. According to the supplier these are definitely not being produced anymore but they are still available in small quantities. Jay Aitchsee stated in another post that Resmed is sti...

Re: Nostrils sore
This going to sound bizarre but I would recommend a product called Bag Balm. It is an ointment originally made to treat cow's udders that become irritated from milking. You can get it at walmart. Sometimes it is in the pharmacy area and sometimes in the pet area. I've also seen a Hartz brand in the...

Re: New Member - Looking for the TRUTH!
It seems several people have had good results with the generic ACR-38 card readers. From my scouring of info it seemed to me that the biggest hurdle would be obtaining the Rescan software. Correct me on either of these if I am in error. Hey at the end of the day at least there will be data for my do...

Re: New Member - Looking for the TRUTH!
Congratulations on fighting for your rights to a decent machine. I, too have the 'latest and greatest', but you still have good equipment. I had to pay out of pocket the entire cost of my S9 Autoset; but I consider it an investment in my health; and a chance for longevity. They say you can't buy ha...

Re: New Member - Looking for the TRUTH!
Congratulations, LadelNutts. What are the pressure settings? The DME set it to CPAP mode with a pressure setting of 8. I had my PCP write the scrpit for the autoset II for the simple reason that the DME tried to screw me so I wanted to screw them in return. The new script said had all the data from...

Re: ResMed Card Reader differences?
I have one rather simple question: On the ACS website, they show two different ACR-38's. One is the straight ACR-38 That is the one you want. Furthermore, could you please provide the dimensions of your nifty little card guide that you made. Specifically i am looking for the widths of the 2 strips ...

Re: GENERIC CARD READERS FOR S8 AVAILABLE HERE
I found the ACR-38 at this site http://www.scdeveloper.com/Readers/ACR38.htm
When you go to purchase the card it asks if you want:
1. STD - No SAM
2. CCID No SAM +$5.00
3. w/ SAM Module +$10.00
Can someone please help me with this? I have no idea which one I need. Thanks!

Re: New Member - Looking for the TRUTH!
Made the swap out for the machine this morning. It was actually relatively painless. The DME really didn't have any leeway to argue anything since the script quoted the specific machine and that it was to have access to leak, pressure, ahi, & ai data. Thanks to everyone who responded with advice. I ...

Re: New Member - Looking for the TRUTH!
Got my revised Rx this morning from my PCP. He wrote the script that the machine is to have access to leak, ahi, ai, and pressure data. I called the DME but the CPAP guy wasn't there I went ahead and faxed the Rx over to them. So I'm just playing the waiting game at this point. I'll keep you posted.
