Re: OT Bed bug phobia

When I come home from anywhere, the first thing I do is chuck my suitcase in the freezer....clothes and all. Next morning, ...if there were any little buggers, they should be frozen solid, then I take out my suitcase and wash everything . OMG, you must have a very big and very empty freezer! Accord...

Re: OT Bed bug phobia

This product sounds like a decent idea. Not sure how well it works, but I got some and take it with me when I travel. http://www.magellans.com/store/Health___Hygiene___Bed_Bug_PreventionSC568 It's also a good idea NOT to bring your suitcase into your bedroom after you get back from a trip. We always...

Re: Need Advice - Probably Have Sleep Apnea Bad

Are your brothers in the same geographic area as you? If so, you could speak to their doctors and explain your situation to get a prescription written. And your fiancee should come along to verify to the doctor that you have been having periods of non-breathing at night. Maybe even record it and sho...

My second week on cpap

My second week on cpap had its ups and downs, but ultimately ended successfully. During the first week I realized that my regular pillow wouldn't work with my nasal mask. I was getting some severe neck and shoulder pains. I tried the Contour cpap pillow, but it proved not to be thick enough for me, ...

Re: Hitting a wall, not sure I can continue right now

Chiming in with my two cents: First: I agree with BlackSpinner---you are rewarding your subconscious mind and probably your conscious mind as well when you consciously take off the mask and choose to go back to sleep without the mask. Every time you consciously allow yourself to fall asleep sans ma...

Re: Hitting a wall, not sure I can continue right now

As already mentioned by BalckSpinner, rewarding yourself for taking off the mask is a bad practice and not something you want to get in the habit of. Also, it is so very important to treat the SA, because of all the potential health problems associated with it. And, you do have to deal with the pro...

Re: Hitting a wall, not sure I can continue right now

I'd thought of that, but I usually don't take naps during the day. Although lately I've been so exhausted that by 4 p.m. I just NEED to lie down and find myself sleeping for about 15-20 minutes with the TV on in the TV room.

Hitting a wall, not sure I can continue right now

Last night, after waking up AGAIN 3 hours into the night, feeling uncomfortable and stiff, I took off the mask, turned off the machine, took a tiny bit of Ativan and went back to sleep without any of the equipment. For the past few days I have been absolutely exhausted, no matter how much sleep I se...

Re: Sleeping eye mask, anyone?

FOUND A SLEEPING EYE MASK THAT WORKS REALLY WELL!!!!!! Yea! My elderly mother had been visiting me the past few weeks and yesterday was her flight home. As usual, I got a gate pass to accompany her to the gate at the airport. After seeing her off to her flight, I realized that there are a TON of dif...

Sleeping eye mask, anyone?

Most nights, I wear earplugs and I USED to wear a nice Bucky eyemask, too. But now that I'm on cpap, I can't wear my Bucky eyemask at all. If I try to put it under my nasal mask, it interferes with the nasal mask's seal. If I put it on top of my nasal mask, it puts pressure on the bridge of my nose ...

Re: For Those That Worry About Germs!

I had a musty odor in my minivan and thought maybe it was coming from the vents (mildew or something) so I sprayed Lysol into all the vents. But unfortunately I used a scent called "powder fresh." Well guess what ? That one has a fine powder in it! I didn't know! Now my vents are very difficult to m...

Re: My DME Horror Story

Can you get your doctor to "prescribe" the machine you wanted? Would your doctor be willing to get involved and go to bat for you? This kind of crap is the reason so many doctors don't take insurance anymore. They are tired of dealing with the insurance companies. Also, do you have written proof tha...

Re: Aromatherapy with CPAP machines.

I already have a bunch of good essential oils. Could you just put a few drops of an essential oil on a cotton ball and place it near the air input, similar to the way the wafer is shown on the post above?

Or even a nice-smelling bar of soap or a nice smelling candle (unlit of course)?
