Re: New machine not useable
"The only drawback to using it this way is if you are used to having some sort of exhale relief being used on your old machine and with the bilevel machine the bilevel part is the exhale relief." I prefer having no exhale relief. IT keeps my airway open better. I think my airway has adapted to years...

Re: New machine not useable
Pugsey, thank you! : ) It did not seem right that a top of the line $1700 machine could not be so set up. I was going to return it today, I'll try what you said. I had set it to CPAP 12 pressure. That worked OK. The provider said it does not autoset, he is very uninformed. I want that feature. The f...

New machine not useable
I have been using cpap for 15 years. I have serious apnea and high BP. I use cpap every day for every minuet I sleep. I got so fed up with the original equipment provider. I gave up and paid out of pocket. Recently, I though I shold try to use a new provider and save some money. To get set up with t...

What happens if the power goes out?
I was thinking, in bed, last night. . IF the power goes out and the CPAP stops, will I just wake up? Does your body start mouth breating automatically? You could not get enough oxygen through the hose if it were not blowing, the hose is too long. Is there a one way valve that kicks in. What is the s...

Insurance problems with a humidifier
Thanks in advance, this is a great forum. I am new to CPAP and have lots of questions. My health care network is not cooperating. Specifically I am having probems with getting a humidifier, or actually one that is usable on my machine. Background... I was given the choice of two machines. I chose th...

more ramblings
"IMO, I don't think the S8 is loud. It's not as loud as the fan that like to have on at night. I have a nose mask, though, so perhaps that makes a difference. " My S7 is much quieter than the S8s I tested. This was a side by side comaprison. The S7 is almost inaudible. The S8 with the nose mask was ...

S8, humidifier issues
I just swapped my S8 for a S7. The S8 was noisy. I had the Swift nose mask. The machine made a whirring noise the went up and down as I inhaled and exhaled. There was also a high pitched whine. Another S8 did the same. The S7 is much quieter. I would rather have big and heavy yet quiet. My wife was ...

It is going back
I spoke to the respiratory therapist today. She will see me late next week, I don't know why the wait. The Doc told me to get on the CPAP or expect a very short life. I would think I could stop by for a half an hour to straighten this out. I think it will work out ok though. At any rate, that machin...

RESMED S8 Autoset Vantage is noisy?
I tried my first machine last night. It is too noisy to be usable. It is NOT noise from the mask. The noise that is bothersome is coming from the motor. It is bad enough on a volume baisis but, it revs up and down as I inhale and exhale. It sounds like someone revving a car engine outside my window....
