I also live in Toronto and have been on CPAP since January 2005. Feel free to ask any questions and hopefully I can help or someone else here can.

kj I would like to add one other thing. When I told my GP I think there is something wrong with my sleeping and that I don't think it is depression she sent me for a sleep study. On my first appointment to speak with the sleep specialist he said "you don't look like a sleep apnea patient". Well duri...

Nightly arousals -cpap vs. apap?
I am trying to figure out the best treatment for me due to nightly arousals. My question is, when I use the apap at a pressure of 4/10 (was titrated at 9) if the machine is sensing to add more pressure is my brain not sensing that I am in need of more air and arousing me slightly at the same time un...

Hi Janelle Sorry, I put January 2004, it should be January 2005 since I have been on CPAP. Two years ago I started feeling extemely tired, morning headaches, etc. The doctor thought depression and put me on some medication for 6 months. I was still very tired so was sent for a sleep study. It took 3...

Babbie Most of us on this site don't like the idea of having to take sleep medication because we worry the same as you do of the possible effects. After 9 months of trying to sleep with meds, without meds, trying natural meds I know I can only go so many nights of bad sleep that I think for me it is...

Kathy I was taking clonazapam from the doctor to help me sleep, but was feeling the same as you. I thought I might get too dependent on it, so I tried melatonin. Well that didn't work for me and I was feeling extremely tired and exhausted for 2 weeks. I am now back on the clonazapam and feel much be...

Barb I have to agree with you! There will be someone out there that will discover something better than what we are doing right now. In fact I definitely feel that in 20 years from now we will be telling our grandchildren and they will be in disbelief as to the fact that we slept with this grey shoe...

kj Glad you asked. My Background: I was disagnosed with OSA in January 2004 after having a year of unexplained fatigue, exhaustion and morning headaches. It took me 3 months to get used to the CPAP machine and mask, through the help of this particular forum. Living with OSA is not fun. The reason pe...

Peg After I had my head close to see what the difference in the 2 pictures were I jumped back, my glasses flipped off my head and my knees hit the bottom of my desk. Then, I started having the best laugh I've had in a while. Next.....I couldn't resist.....my 16 year old daughter who is always scarin...

Hi Tom Glad to hear you had a better night. I myself cannot sleep with any mask without the use of cflex (mine is set at 3 which gives the most relief from the pressure). If you want to see the difference just try it during the day for a couple of minutes turned to '0' and then turn it to '3'. The a...

snoremonger I had the same feeling as you when I started CPAP but I did have the cflex option, just didn't know how to work it properly at first. You will find a very big difference when you get your auto with cflex. Your exhale will feel much more relaxed instead of trying to force the air out. If ...

Will Do you find you feel more rested in the morning with a nasal mask as opposed to a FF mask? Do you think the treatment is better because of less chance of major air leaks? I am a mouth breather and have been using the Ultra Mirage FF mask, no problem all night, but in the morning I feel very fat...

Born Tired I just noticed your reply about the twitching and melatonin. I only tried the melatonin for 2 weeks but found I stayed awake more, so I am back on 1 clonazapam a night. My doctor put me on extra calcium/magnesium supplements since a blood test showed I was fairly low. The doctor thought t...
