Re: Apnea GONE???

Thanks for the replies. I called the sleep center today to schedule a follow up appointment & get the results of the latest test. I was told both would take a couple weeks, since they won't give me the data until the clinician (I won't say doctor, since so far, all I've seen there is an "ARNP") revi...

Apnea GONE???

I had a sleep study done about 5 years ago at a respected facility in the Seattle area. The study indicated I had OSA (test results below). After using my Remstar as directed (ALL night EVERY night) for over 2 years, I stopped using it, primarily because I wasn't feeling any better (concentration is...

Sleep apnea and "Irritable Bowel Syndrome"

I'm 57 years old, exercise most days, and am quit fit. Among other things, my BMI is about 22. I was diagnosed with OSA 5 years ago. The study was flawed, in that although it clearly showed disordered breathing & low pulse ox in the initial test, the numb-nuts running the test (search "Numb Nuts" in...

Re: Where to buy mask parts

Thanks for the replies. That Ebay item looks like just what I need, and not too expensive! I would not have thought to look there, thanks for the tip!

Where to buy mask parts

I'm using a REMstar Auto A-Flex with nasal pillows. Headset is marked only "Opus 360". Last night I stretched the hose between the headband & nasal pillow attachment point, which now makes a loud crackling noise as a result. I don't really need to replace the whole thing, just this bit of hose. Anyo...

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

"There are plenty of quacks with peer-reviewed papers" Not every hypothesis or study result which appears in the medical literature is flawless or pans out, but I can tell you as someone who has spent a good deal of time around that literature professionally that the notion that there are "Plenty of...

Re: Low Vitamin D level appears to cause sleep apnea

I haven't watched the videos yet (which I will do), but the doctor in question does have at least 7 published medical journal articles on various aspects of neurology, so while the vitamin D/OSA hypothesis may well be wrong, I think it's safe to say she's not an outright quack.

Re: CMS-50F Pulse Ox strap question

Thanks for the quick, helpful responses. I took the strap off a cheap digital watch and got it to work.

Honestly, how things like this make it all the way through design, manufacturing and on to the market with NO ONE figuring out their shite really astounds me.

CMS-50F Pulse Ox strap question

Just got this, I sure would like to use it tonight, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how the bloody STRAP is supposed to work! In the only configuration that seems even remotely correct, the tightest setting would fit my LEG, not my WRIST! And I'm not that small, 6' ~170 lbs. How aggravati...

Re: Sleeping pills with cpap

Someone mentioned "period leg movements during sleep". A similar condition is "restless leg syndrome" (RLS). I've had RLS for years, and antihistamines can definitely make it much worse. Benedryl/diphenhydramine is an antihistamine, it's the same drug contained in things like "Ibuprofen/Tylenol PM",...

Re: Hi there very nice web site!!

This is a terrific site. Very good information, and everyone one seems very friendly, helpful and quick to reply. Haven't seen one snarky remark in a discussion yet, and that can be rare online!

I don't know the answer to your dillema, but I enjoyed the Watergate reference.
