CPAP when you get old
OK, here comes another question. So far I am very pleased with the use of my CPAP. But what happens when you get old. I am only 63 and have many years before I have to worry about it, but is there an age when you are too old to use the machine? My Mom at 90 and with dementia could not cope with all ...

Dental Problems and CPAP??
I am a new user of CPAP, 3 weeks. I use the hose an average of 7.5 hours per night and although I do have a few wrinkles to work out, I feel much better. I changed sleep Docs because of ins. He wanted me on a nasal mask until my next titration in 10 days. I am currently using the Zest nasal mask. My...

New Bad night last night
I have only been on cpap for four days. First 3 went remarkable well. I was beginning to think this was a piece of cake. Then came last night. In to bed a little early, 10 o'clock. So far so good. Fell asleep and hit with leg cramps. I have plm (570 recorded during titration). I had exercised in poo...

Re: ist night on CPAP More questions
Thanks everyone for the kind advice and support. Last night went OK, but my cheek bones hurt from the mask. It tends to ride up when I sleep on my side. It is the only real problem I am experiencing at this point. The DME suggested a gel faceliner and I saw that Karen at Pad a Cheeks makes a liner as...

First night on CPAP
It has taken awhile, but I finally was able to pick up my equipment yesterday. I have a Remstar auto with Aflex and a Quatro fx mask.I wasn't sure what to expect, but was hopefull. All of the info on this forum has been great. Although I have a very long way to go I can report that last night was wo...

periodic limb movements
Back to the boards with more questions! The beauty of this board is that I'm sure someone on this forum will have had a similar problem. I picked up my report from the titration this afternoon. My OSA decreased with a pressure of 11. Because of everyone's help I think I understand most of the report...

Titration last night...What a breeze!
Yes, pun intended. My initial study was miserable. I only slept a total of 94 minutes. I wasn't sure how I would fare with air blowing up my nose all night. Last night my prep included homemade chicken soup (comfort food), an hour in the 91 degree water in the therapy pool right before I went, and a...

Conversation with DME today
Wow! I called a local DME today to get info about machines and policies today. I am very disappointed with her responses. She told me that no one they service uses an APAP, no need. No need to read your data...the Dr. takes care of that. No one has problems with mask fit. Even though they would be a...

Re: Newly Diagnosed - Getting Overwhelmed
loganasu, It seems as though we are at the same point in our CPAP adventure. It would be fun to compare notes as we go along. My titration is Wed. I am a little apprehensive since my initial sleep study did not go perfectly. I only slept a total of 94 min., but it was enough to indicate severe OSA. ...

Re: Overwhelmed!!
Thanks again to everyone. I spent the day on the phone with United Health care to make sure I understand my coverage. After the $250 deductable, which I have already satisfied, it covers 90%. I talked to some DME Reps and I think I eithert want Respironics System1 Auto with Cflex or Resmed s9 auto. ...

Re: Overwhelmed!!
The Sleep specialist sugested ambien to my PCP. I've never taken a sleeping pill before, so it should be interesting. Also, I'm tossing around the idea of going to the Fitness Center pool before the titration. The water is 91 degrees and might help make me good and sleepy. I am definately looking fo...

Re: Overwhelmed!!
Thanks for the great info Pugsy, I just picked up my preliminary report from my sleep study.I have severe OSA with a AHI of 84 events per hour and a minimum SaO2 of 82%. It is a little scary, but at least now I have a reason as to why I feel so lousy much of the time. All I want to do is sleep. East...
