Re: So what is Sleep Apnea Termed as?
I also have severe CompSA. I had central apnea prior to therapy and still have centrals. I cannot use a standard Cpap machine but rather I have a BiLevel Vpap. But, yes, I would surely like to know how SA is termed. Syndrome? Disorder? Disease? No one has been able to clear that up for me either. An...

LOL...Yawning
I have learned to yawn with my "snorkel" on. Took a while but now I can yawn with the mask on and not get a blast of air. Such a small thing yet I feel triumphant. Audge - 1, BiPap - 0

Re: Long Term damage done to the brain from Sleep Apnea
I think I may fall into that category, also. I have yet to have a sleep doctor tell me so but I suffered from apnea for nearly 20 years before anyone would offer treatment. My sleep study showed severe Complex Sleep Apnea with my study showing for that one night 92 centrals, 244 obstructives and 6 h...

Collateral Damage from SA
Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else has chronic health problems stemming from sleep apnea. There is suggestion that liver disease, insulin resistance, peripheral neuropathy, autoimmune issues, heart disease and organ damage among other things can all be related to sleep apnea. My SA wa...

I am so sorry...I didn't even think to update my equipment profile. I started on a rental from my RT. I have gone in and updated now.

Re: Something is just not right....help
Yes, she shows me the reports and circles the numbers explaning to me how good they are. I don't have copies of the reports but I think she sends them to my family doctor. According to her I should be feeling right as rain. I have made an appointment with my doctor for this Thursday coming. I just w...

Something is just not right....help
Folks...I am worse than I ever was. I was diagnosed with severe CompSA. I have been 100% compliant using an Auto Bipap for over 2 months now with an average of 7-8 hours per night. RT says my numbers are great (she reads my data, not me) but I am feeling far worse now than before I started therapy. ...

Re: POLL: How Many Doctors Do You Have ?
I am coming up 52. I have a GP, a rheumotologist, and gastroenterologist , an internist and currently seeing a general surgeon. I have had need of a urologist and a neurologist in the past year. Sounds awful doesn't it. It is sometimes. But I have never had a sleep doctor only a respitory therapist.

Re: Cheynes-Stokes Respiration
Just wondering if it is actually Cheynes-Stokes or, perhaps, central apnea. I have ComplexSA so I have central apnea episodes as well as obstructive apnea episodes. My heart tests were also fine but sometimes my brain drops the ball and forgets to tell my body to breathe which is, as I have been tol...

Re: Hey im new here
Hi Tom, I am only a few days new here myself! This is week two for me learning to survive "the machine". Still having lots of problems so I am still sorting myself out. Seems to be a lot of good information here and those that I have talked to have all been kind, understanding and supportive. Welcom...

Re: Does anyone get GERD from using CPAP?
Hi Quakerville, I cannot speak to CPAP causing GERD because I have suffered from it for years. I am on 80mg daily of Nexium....but.....I had to see my doc today because of worsening chest pain after starting CPAP. He told me esophageal discomfort and irritation are not uncommon when first starting C...

Re: REM Rebound
Hard to say Gumby. I have an autoimmune issue that often causes inflamation in the chest wall, plueri and paracardial sack anyway. Doc thinks it's gastric, where I also have issues anyway so it's await and see scenario I am afraid. He assured me it is not heart or lung related.

REM Rebound
Hey all, I went to the RT today and she has switched me over from the Auto CPAP to and Auto BiPAP machine. She thinks it will be better for me. My readings from the data card were positive however, so the machine is definately doing me some good. I asked her about this business of feeling worse than...
