Re: one-day surgery and cpap

and sometimes when they don't listen and you tell them about the OSA... the whole surgery gets scrubbed. When I needed an MRI, my claustrophobia kicked in a big way. Ten seconds after they pushed me into the machine I hollered for them to get me out and I was shaking like a leaf. So, next time the ...

Re: HOME SLEEP LAB WITH INFRARED CAMERA

Check out Candle Power Forums for all you want to know about electronics etc. for driving LEDs.

They're more into high-power lights etc., but I'm sure someone would know about low power too.

Re: Walmart and personal control

I've heard (second-hand, but from a reliable source with direct knowledge) about a BMW-driving Judge who did not have any medical insurance. Got breast cancer. Suddenly managed to get herself on a federal government medical insurance program for the poor (not sure of the name - might be medicaid) an...

Re: What's in a name? - Data Viewer application name request

I googled lots of possibilities, but anything containing "Sleep" seems already spoken for. Some other possibilities: HoseHead HoseMaster SleepyBegone HoseHead has negative connotations to me. HoseMaster is already used, but in different fields (metal hoses for mining, photography). SleepyBegone unit...

Re: Air travel

That thread seems to date from 2006/2007. Take your CPAP with you as carry on. You don't want those baggage handlers throwing your medical equipment around. I sometimes watch them throwing bags from their little truck onto the airplane and vice-versa. Minimal muscles involved. Sometimes the bag fall...

Re: One Month Noticeable Changes

I have lost 22 lbs in a month. I just started eating "better" (keeping an eye out for fatty foods and carbs). I had already tried that approach before being on CPAP, it hadn't worked, I felt really deprived (in terms of quantity and type of food) and there was no significant weight loss. I therefor...

Well, I voted in an old post thread (but didn't post) and that brought to the front anyway. Sorry, learning experience.

Re: Walmart and personal control

I think the root of the problem is that the DME's customer is not the sick person , it's the medical/insurance system. And the same probably applies to a whole variety of medical services. We're just another "human resource". It's a nice convenience to have the DME automatically bill the insurance a...

Re: Walmart and personal control

I went to the local Walmart a few months ago. I had a needed a physical photo in a bit of a rush on the weekend, so I printed it using their online service and chose the option to have it printed and kept at the local store. A bit later I get their notification that it's ready, so I go down there wi...

Re: Does everyone use a humidifier eventually?

Houston is also hot and humid in summer, but I don't see that: my wife likes the AC set to "freezing" and that probably also drys out the air. Anyway, I didn't use the humidifier until recently when my nose started running and I was having sneezing attacks all day long. Tried the last few nights wit...

Re: its 3am whose here

Well, last night was good for me, but the night before was terrible. I was well on my way to falling asleep (probably even in stage 1) when the wife came in and woke me to discuss something she thought was going to happen yesterday, but will actually happen a week from yesterday. So I'm wide awake a...

Re: Things you don't want to hear

It's literally been just a few minutes since my first post...but I have to get this off my chest... I just told my wife everything, asked her to go online and look for a different place that may be able to get me back on my feet quicker. The response I got was so supportive..."I told you so before....

Re: Feel free to post on the blowdown!

I have been recording my weight and %fat frequently (i.e. most week days) on the computer for the last two years. I use my own very simple graphing tools (written in Python) to display trends etc. (It also computes and displays BMI.) Just recently I downloaded a new app (Noom, free) for my startphon...

Re: Mouth leaks

Whenever I'm conscious, I don't have any leaks. I've been getting leaks when I'm asleep and I suspect they're a mixture of mouth and mask leaks. To fix the mouth leaks, I got as extreme as taping my entire mouth except the corners, but I still had too many leaks. In fact, there was little noticeable...
